Flashback Product of the Week: ’05 Topps All-American Football

 Photobucket

In 2005 it was the 50th Anniversary of the 1955 Topps All-American set.  Back in 1955 Topps wanted to create a set for football collectors after seeing the success Bowman obtained with their football products.  At the time, Topps couldn’t land any contracts with the NFL but still wanted to release some kind of football set.  With a little creativity, Topps was able to manufacture cards of players in the NFL, but in their college uniforms.  I like to think of it as a vintage Press Pass product.  On its 50th Anniversary, Topps created a newer version of this popular set.  Each box contains 24 packs with 6 cards per pack.  There are 2 autographs and 4 chrome parallels per box on average.  Many of the autographs are short-printed.  I really enjoy this product because it has a few autographs of players from the Miami Dolphins Perfect Season team.
