Design:
I’d really like to know what the design team at Panini was thinking when they came up with these cards. They just seem so busy looking. I was excited when I first heard that Panini was bringing back this classic Pacific brand, but I wasn’t expecting anything like this. The die-cut design is great, but why did they have to clutter the hell out of them? I swear they remind my of Christmas ornaments.
I will say something positive about the packaging. These boxes are very small and compact. They are even smaller than retail blasters. In today’s hobby, manufacturers use all kinds of fancy packaging that adds a lot of cost to the product. I wish more boxes were designed in the shape of ’10 Crown Royale.
Price:
Each box will cost about $82.00. With a lot of collectors not being a fan of the design, I predict the price to drop even though you get a hit inside each pack.
Hit Quality:
Yes, you do get a hit within each pack, but the chances of pulling something big is difficult. Collectors will find a ton of plain jerseys serial numbered well into the hundreds. I pulled the following hits:
- Vernon Davis Blue Parallel #’ed/50
- Devin McCourty Auto #’ed/249
- Ben Tate Auto Blue Parallel #’ed/50
- Chris Johnson Jersey #’ed/299
- Eric Berry Jersey #’ed/299
Overall:
Overall, I give 2010 Crown Royale 2.5 footballs out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect). I think Panini could have done a better job when designing this product. The cards are too clustered. Remember Panini, less is more.
