Of all the manufacturers, Panini has the most interesting logo. But what in the hell does a knight and the letters “EPM” have to do with anything. After a little research, and an e-mail to Panini Corporate I’ve come up with a few answers.
According to Panini Online:
Because Giuseppe Panini, who loved riddles and puzzles, invented his own crossword puzzles under the pseudonym “The Knight”. In the 70s, there was also a magazine for Panini sticker collectors whose testimonial was “Pipino The Knight” (Pipino stood for Giuseppe).
Giuseppe Panini is the founder of Panini.
Now what about those letters “EPM”? They stand for EDIZIONI PANINI MODENA. Edizioni is Italian for “Editions”, Panini obviously is for the founder, and Modena is the city in Italy where the company was first established.
