2011 Press Pass Eclipse Box Break & Review

Design:Photobucket

One of the most colorful products I’ve ever seen.  Press Pass has produced sets in the past that have a painted look, but this one is the best.  I like that they continued to use the painted theme throughout the relics, but it would have been nice to see that carried over into the autographs.  More than just the high-end autographed “Spellbound Swatches”, which is a first for Eclipse.   The box is interesting too.  The first thing I noticed was the size.  Its quite big and shows off a beautiful cover.  Press Pass really lived up to the phrase “The Art Of Speed”.

Price: Photobucket

Boxes are currently selling for around $110.00.  That seems a bit expensive, but I have a good feeling the price will drop.

“Hit” Quality: Photobucket

Each box guarantees (4) “hits” – (1) autograph and (3) relics.  I pulled the following:

  • Brian Scott Auto #’ed/15
  • Denny Hamlin “Spellbound” Tire Relic #’ed/150
  • Bill Elliot “Spellbound” Tire Relic #’ed/150
  • Kyle Busch “Spellbound” Shirt Relic #’ed/250

The set consists of 90 cards.  Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne does not have any base cards in Eclipse, but collectors can look for autographs.

Overall: Photobucket

Overall, I give 2011 Eclipse 4 paint buckets out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect).  The base set is extremely good looking, and probably my favorite thing about this product.  I also like the idea of (4) “hits” per box too, especially when there are (24) packs.
