Flashback Product of the Week: 1973 Topps Candy Lids

Over the years, Topps has issued some crazy products.  In 1973 they tested their Candy Lids with collectors, and it didn’t really amount to a lot.  The product was officially called Baseball Stars Bubble Gum.  Inside each tub were small bubble gum bites, and printed on the reverse side of the lid was an image of a baseball player.  The set consists of 55 different lids.  Being a test issue, it wasn’t distributed everywhere.  There are still some sealed tubs out there, although I wouldn’t suggest eating the gum.  Sellers are asking anywhere from $150.00 to $200.00 per tub.
