2011-2012 Crown Royale Hockey Box Break & Review

Design: Photobucket

I don’t know what it is about hockey products, but they seem to be designed better versus other sports.  The 2011-2012 version of Crown Royale is much more calmed down in design when compared to others.  One of the best types of cards Panini has created are the silhouette patch autographs.  They look absolutely amazing.  You would think by covering up a portion of the relic would hurt the overall design, but it totally works.

All of my autographs are on-card and look nice.  The black and white Ice Kings look good, especially the autographed ones.  Not only are the signatures on-card, but the majority of the colors on the card are black and white with a little silver mixed in, and when you reach the signature you get hit with a blast of color.  I think Panini could have done something different when it came to the non-autographed Ice Kings cards.  There is too much of an empty space where the autograph would normally be.

Price: Photobucket

Boxes are currently selling for $100.00.

“Hit” Quality: Photobucket

11-12 Crown Royale doesn’t have a lack of “hits”.  You should find (2) autographs and (2) memorabilia cards per box.  I pulled the following:

  • Tomas Vincour RC Auto
  • Nicklas Lidstrom Ice Kings Auto #’ed/99
  • Curtis Joseph Mythology Jersey
  • Joe Nieuwendyk Mythology 2-Color Patch #’ed/10
  • Yann Sauve RC #129
  • Nicklas Backstrom Red #96
Ice Kings
  • Daniel Sedin #4
Overall: Photobucket
Overall, I give 2011-2012 Crown Royale 4 crowns out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect).  The design is much better and the on-card autographs are great.  Even though I didn’t pull any redemptions, I’ve got the feeling there are plenty in here.  Panini’s products have been filled with them lately.
