Flashback Product of the Week: 1999 Spectra Star/Marvel Fleer Tradition All Star Baseball Kites

“I’m going to the park to fly my baseball card kite.”  If that phrase doesn’t bring the ladies running towards ya, I don’t know what will.  If you’ve fully recovered from all the woman you got with the Allen & Ginter electric sign, you need to try this product.

These 28″ sled style toy kites were made by Spectra Star/Marvel back in 1999 and feature a giant Fleer Tradition baseball card printed on them.  Inside each package you will also find a standard sized 1999 Fleer Tradition card too.  The “set” consists of Ken Griffey, Jr, Greg Maddux, Mike Piazza, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and other stars of the time.

I had no clue that these even existed.  Last Saturday I saw one for the first time.  I’m sure there are some player collectors that live for stuff like this.  Just because you don’t see them too often doesn’t make them rare.  They’re barely worth anything.

Personally, I think this product blows.  Get it? 🙂

  1. I actually have the Mike Piazza kite attached to the ceiling, in the corner right above my desk. I was selling cards a few years ago at a local flea market. I was flying one of the kites and sold several. They fly very well ! I had bought about a dozen of them at a K-Mart sale.
