Design:
When it comes to 2012 Elite Football, Panini stuck with their classic foil filled look. There are lots of sticker autographs, but my personal favorite cards just like in previous years are the die-cut signatures. They just look so cool to me. An autographed card that isn’t the standard trading card shape goes a long way in my book. The acetate cards that you can see through is a nice touch as well. I only wish they could have been hard signed versus placing a sticker directly on the acetate.
I’m also glad to see Panini is using the popularity of QR codes on their boxes.
Price:
Boxes are currently selling for $120.00.
“Hit” Quality:
Boxes promise (4) “hits” per box on average. I pulled the following:
Autos
- Orson Charles acetate Hard Hats RC Auto #’ed/199
- Terrance Ganaway RC Auto #’ed/599
- Ladarius Green RC Auto #’ed/399
Relic
- Doug Flutie Throwback Threads Jersey #’ed/199
Inserts/Parallels/Rookies
- Michael Turner Craftsmen Gold #’ed/149
- Andre Johnson Craftsmen #’ed/999
- Jason Babin Hit List #’ed/999
- Chris Johnson Elite Series #’ed/999
- Trent Richardson Rookie Elite Series #’ed/999
- Brian Quick Hard Hats RC #’ed/399
- Keshawn Martin Hard Hats RC #’ed/399
- Joe Adams RC #’ed/799
- Luke Kuechly RC #’ed/999
- Nick Perry RC #’ed/999
- Dre Kirkpatrick RC #’ed/999
Overall:
Overall, I give 2012 Elite Football 3.5 Pipino Knights out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect). New rookies, new uniforms, die-cut signatures, and acetate inserts highlight just some of your box “hits”. It makes a nice start to the NFL collecting season.
