2012-2013 Panini NBA Hoops Box Break & Review

Design: Photobucket

The first thing I notice with Panini’s NBA Hoops cards is the photography.  Its very good!  Big and bold.  Almost Stadium Club like.  There are a lot of sticker autographs, but at least Panini didn’t place a white box right in the middle of the photograph like they have in the past.  The photos on most of the autographed cards fade into a slightly white area near the bottom where they placed the sticker.

Price: Photobucket

Hobby boxes are currently selling for $68.00.

“Hit” Quality: Photobucket

Hobby boxes promise (2) autographs.  One of the biggest “hits” you could pull is the Anthony Davis rookie autograph.  Too bad its a redemption.

I pulled the following:

Autos

  • Derrick Williams Auto
  • Shelvin Mack Auto

Parallels

  • Serge Ibaka Artist’s Proof #137 – Is he related to Chewbacca?
  • Gary Forbes Glossy #32
  • Jason Richardson Glossy #168
  • Brandon Knight Glossy #229
  • Jon Leuer Glossy #255
  • J.J. Hickson Glossy #128
  • Dwight Howard Glossy #300

Rookies

  • Anthony Davis #275
  • Moe Harkless #288
  • Evan Fournier #290
  • Tyler Zeller #289
  • Thomas Robinson #279
  • Andre Drummond #283
  • Terrence Ross #282
  • Perry Jones III #291
  • Michael Kidd-Gilchrist #276
  • Meyers Leonard #285
  • Bernard James #292
  • Quincy Miller #294
  • Dion Waiters #278
  • Jeremy Lamb #286
  • Damian Lillard #280
  • Quincy Acy #293
  • Harrison Barnes #281
  • Kyrie Irving #223 – some collectors are calling this a rookie, but he does have a few Panini “rookies” from last year

Overall: Photobucket

Overall, I give 2012-2013 NBA Hoops a generous 3 basketballs out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect).  Set collectors and Hoops fans will probably enjoy it, but if your looking for a box loaded with “hit” after “hit”, this isn’t what you’ll see here.
