Design:
Sticker autographs!!! Did Press Pass get hit with the sticker bug too? I’ve never seen so many sticker autographs in a Press Pass product before. Let me rephrase that. I’ve NEVER seen sticker autographs in a Press Pass product before. They aren’t small stickers either. These suckers are big. Press Pass is known for having 99.9% of their autographs on-card and I didn’t even think they owned stickers. This was a real shock. When we got our first preview of 2013 Ignite you could see a sticker-like image around the autographs, but I thought they might have been placed there just for the mock-ups. I wasn’t actually expecting them to be there.
Price:
Boxes are currently selling for $90.00.
“Hit” Quality:
2013 Ignite contains a 70-card base set that features all the drivers in their new firesuits. On average, each box should contain (1) autograph, (1) relic and (1) serial numbered parallel.
I pulled the following:
Autos
- Trevor Bayne Ignite Ink #’ed/99
Relic
- Bobby Labonte Hot Threads 2-Color Firesuit Patch #’ed/99
Parallel
- Austin Dillon Top Speed Black/White #’ed/50
Inserts
- Tony Stewart Turning Point #6
- Austin Dillon Turning Point #2
- Convoy No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet SS #2
- Convoy No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS #6
- Matt Kenseth Profile #9
- Denny Hamlin Profile #5
- Cotton Owens 2013 NASCAR Hall of Fame #155
- Remembering Davey Allison #4
Overall:
Overall, I can only give 2013 Ignite 2.5 fireballs out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect). The jumbo stickers are what really pull this product down. I’m still in shock after seeing the amount of stickers Press Pass used. For god sake Press Pass sells shirts on their website that say “On Card Isn’t Hard”. I find this ironically funny. The fire theme is great for a racing set, but I would like to see Press Pass take that to the next level by creating some unique looking inserts. If they had more competition when it comes to NASCAR cards, I think we’d see them.
