2013 Panini Momentum Football Box Break & Review

Design:  photo 35fireball.jpg

2013 Momentum has been drastically improved over its 2012 predecessor.  This product is packed with thick white card stock.  The rookie and veteran autographed base cards came out really well.  These surprisingly don’t have white boxes around them either.  Most of the patch autographs look very nice too.  Panini did an excellent job in upgrading Momentum’s design for this year.

Price:  photo 2fireball.jpg

Its expensive for what the average collector is going to pull.  Boxes are currently selling for $152.00.

“Hit” Quality:  photo 35fireball.jpg

Momentum does have its share of “hits”.  The problem is that many of them will be high-numbered jerseys.  The same goes for the autographs.

I pulled the following:

  • Zach Ertz Rookie Team Threads Jersey/Auto #’ed/49
  • Joseph Randle Rookie Signatures Jersey/Auto #’ed/399
  • Manti Te’o Rookie Signatures Jersey/Auto #’ed/199

  • Arthur Brown RC Auto #’ed/599
  • Phillip Thomas RC Auto #’ed/599

  • Johnathan Franklin Upside Jumbo Jersey #’ed/299
  • Christine Michael Rookie Team Threads Jersey #’ed/299
  • Vance McDonald Rookie Initiation Jersey #’ed/399
  • Montee Ball Rookie Team Threads Jersey #’ed/399
  • Montee Ball Rookie Initiation Prime Jersey #’ed/49

  • Alec Ogletree RC #’ed/49

  • Eric Reid #133
  • Aaron Dobson #101
  • Theo Riddick #191
  • Sharrif Floyd #176
  • Kenny Stills #151
  • Ryan Otten #181
  • Corey Fuller #119
  • Stedman Bailey #186
  • Ace Sanders #103
  • Phillip Thomas #174

Overall:  photo 3fireball.jpg

Overall, I give 2013 Panini Momentum Football 3 fireballs out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect).  The design is way better than last year, but with a so-so rookie class, and a majority of the “hits” either being plain colored and/or high-numbered, the cost of a box will just eat you alive.  I say get rid of some of the regular jerseys to keep the cost down.  Momentum doesn’t need to have ten packs per box.
