“Pin-Up” of the Week: 2014 LLWS “Where Did The ESPN Trucks Go?” Pin

Little League Baseball is seeing record attendance this year.  Some games are seeing 30,000+ fans.  That’s more than some big league games.  It sure is more than what the Marlins get.  A lot of this has to do with pitching sensation Mo’ne Davis from Philadelphia.  Corporate sponsors and businesses throughout Williamsport are handing out pins left and right.  Certain pins you can get for free while others you need to pay for.  When I was up at Little League, Kellogg’s was handing out pins on the hour every hour.

ESPN pins are still at the top of many collectors’ wishlists.  There is no clear answer as to how their Little League World Series pins are handed out.  I’ve heard that security officers working for ESPN may have them, but that’s far from a sure thing.  I’ve been wanting to add an ESPN Little League World Series pin to my collection for sometime, but never pulled the trigger on any that popped-up for sale on eBay… until now.

One of the first questions I asked myself when I was at Little League this year was “Where did the ESPN trucks go?“.  For years, many of the ESPN trucks were off to the left side of Lamade Stadium.  This year they’re not there.  Apparently they moved them to another lot above the stadium.  These trucks aren’t anything you’d want to look at either and perhaps that is why they decided to move them.  It makes the area look nicer and provides more room for vendors.

Moving these trucks must have been a big enough event for ESPN to make a pin about it.  Who gave these out?  I have no clue.  The tiny truck in the upper left-hand corner can be removed and is a pin all on it’s own.  Plus I like how it gives a basic layout of the concourse.  ESPN and Wilson Trophy did an excellent job designing this pin.  I tried to find out how many were made, but Wilson Trophy stated that was confidential.  I got my pin for just under $25.00.
