Joe Frazier: “If you kill the body, the head will die.

Muhammad Ali: “It will be a Killa and a Thrilla and a Chilla when I get The Gorilla in Manila.

Its considered one of the greatest moments in sports history.  “A Thrilla In Manila” was the third and final boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.  It took place on October 1, 1975 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.  The two were going for the Heavyweight Championship of the World at the time.  Without going too much into detail about every moment of the fight, Ali ended up beating Frazier.  The fight was stopped after the 14th round.  I believe these two guys would’ve kept at it until one of them fell to the ground for good.  Ali would later go on to say that this fight was the closest he ever got to dying.

Like a lot of major sporting events, there is merchandise.  This fight has it’s share of good stuff to collect.  One of the rarer items is this pin promoting the fight.  This pin recently sold for $500.00.
