2021 Topps Chrome Baseball Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Autograph/Chrome Fans

Chrome continues to be king. Box busters love looking for that cardboard bling.

A hobby box of 2021 Topps Chrome Baseball comes with (24) packs. Each hobby box should come with (2) autographs.

Balance is the perfect word to describe this box. In addition to the autographs, a wide variety of parallels and inserts were found. The parallels pulled are of some highly watched rookies too – Cronenworth, Adell, and Mountcastle. Throw in a Gold Wave, Tatis Jr. Prism, and a Freeman Negative, and you’ve got a nice balance of color.

That’s the best thing about Topps Chrome. If your autographs aren’t that recognizable, the parallels can easily make up for it.

The base set consists of (220) cards. Parallels include Refractor (1:3), Sepia (2 per Blaster), Pink (2 per Blaster), Prism (1:6), Negative, Magenta #’ed/399, Magenta Speckle #’ed/350, Purple #’ed/299, Aqua #’ed/199, Aqua Wave #’ed/199, Blue #’ed/150, Green #’ed/99, Green Wave #’ed/99, Blue Wave #’ed/75, Gold #’ed/50, Gold Wave #’ed/50, Orange #’ed/25, Orange Wave #’ed/25, Red #’ed/5, Red Wave #’ed/5, SuperFractor #’ed 1/1, and Printing Plates #’ed 1/1.

How could you have such a popular product like this in today’s hobby without photo variations? You can’t. Topps made sure you have plenty to look for. I always check the CMP codes to see if I’ve pulled any:

  • Base – #310
  • Variation SP – #350
  • Variation SSP – #356

Variation SPs have Green #’ed/99, Gold #’ed/50, Orange #’ed/25, Red #’ed/5, and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1 parallels. The Variation SSPs do not have any parallels.

Autographs include Rookie Autographs, Dual Rookie Autographs, 1986 Topps Baseball Autographs, Béisbol Autographs, Future Stars Autographs, and Prismic Power Autographs.

Relics include Captain’s Cloth Chrome Relics, and Captain’s Cloth Chrome Relic Autographs.

Inserts include 1986 Topps Baseball, Béisbol, Future Stars, and Prismic Power.

Other versions of Topps Chrome Baseball this year include Topps Chrome LITE, Sapphire Edition, and Ben Baller Edition.

Topps Chrome LITE offers (16) packs per box. Each box guarantees (4) Black & White Mini-Diamond parallels. Black & White Mini-Diamond Rookie Autograph parallels can also be found.

Sapphire Edition should be coming down the line soon.

Ben Baller recently announced his Topps Chrome boxes should arrive in October.
