2021 Topps Pro Debut Baseball Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Autograph/MiLB Fans

I’ve been attending MiLB games for years. Mainly focusing on days where they giveaway bobbleheads. This year I was able to attend a few Harrisburg Senators games. In June they gave out a bobblehead of Trea Turner, and in August a bobblehead of Ryan Zimmerman.

It all depends on where you live. But I think more fans have access to attending MiLB games versus MLB. I know that’s the case for me.

MiLB products such as Topps Pro Debut showcase key players from the present and past who have played for those teams which are in your backyard. This continues in 2021.

The base set consists of (200) cards. Parallels include Blue #’ed/150, Green #’ed/99, Gold #’ed/50, Orange #’ed/25, Red #’ed/10, and Black #’ed 1/1.

If opening an HTA Jumbo box the 200-card base set has Chrome counterparts. Parallels for those include Refractor #’ed/99, Aqua #’ed/75, Gold #’ed/50, Orange #’ed/25, Red #’ed/5, and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1. I especially enjoy the way these look on the cards which utilize the 1991 Topps Baseball design. Will we see a Sapphire Edition?

Photo variations are tough pulls. Finding one in a hobby box falls 1:340 packs. The best way to identify them is to check the CMP codes:

  • Base – #758
  • Variation – #784

Autographs include Base Autographs, Future Cornerstones Autographs, Major Scale Autographs, MiLB Legends Autographs, and The Cogeneration Autographs.

Inserts include Major Scale, MiLB Legends, The Cogeneration, and Make Your Pro Debut Winner.

My personal favorite cards out of this year’s set are the MiLB Legends inserts. Scott Rolen in his Reading Phillies uniform, Vladimir Guerrero in his Harrisburg Senators uniform, and Todd Helton in his New Haven Ravens uniform all bring back memories to when I really got into this hobby.

The hobby is currently on fire. It might be the hottest it has ever been. A hobby box yields (4) autographs, and costs $100. One of the more affordable options right now if you’re looking to purchase a box.
