2021 Topps Finest Flashbacks Baseball Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Parallel Fans

Topps introduced Finest Flashbacks during the summer of 2020. Members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club (like myself) were allowed to pre-order up to (3) boxes at a cost of $55 per box before the general public. The product was an extreme hit. Boxes guaranteed (1) refractor. But collectors quickly discovered Topps had loaded these things up. Most boxes contained a lot more than (1) parallel. Combining that with random on-card autographs, the classic 1993 Topps Finest design, and you can easily see why these are now selling for $500 a piece on the secondary market.

Its no surprise that Topps brought back Finest Flashbacks in 2021. Topps 582 Montgomery Club members were once again allowed to pre-order before the general public. This time however the limit was (1) box, and the cost was $200 per box. Most people expected a price increase based on what the previous year’s boxes are currently selling for.

2021 Topps Finest Flashbacks utilizes the 1994 Topps Finest design. Boxes contain (18) packs, and you’re guaranteed (1) refractor per box. For the most part though you should find a lot more than that. Most boxes are loaded with parallels.

The main set consists of (200) cards. Parallels include Refractor (1:18), Gold #’ed/50 (1:18), Prism #’ed/35 (1:26), Black #’ed/25 (1:36), Red #’ed/5 (1:175), and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1 (1:865).

Cards #201-220 are Short Prints and should fall (1:18) packs. Parallels for these include Refractor, Gold #’ed/50 (1:176), Prism #’ed/35 (1:251), Black #’ed/25 (1:350), Red #’ed/5 (1:1,729), and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1 (1:8,822).

Autographs are difficult to pull. About (1:320) packs or (1:18) boxes contains an autograph. Every autograph is #’ed/25 or less. You also have a chance at pulling original 1994 Topps Finest Buyback Autographs.

As I was hoping, my box delivered A LOT more than what is guaranteed. In the words of Han Solo “Never tell me the odds.” Very colorful break.
