National Exclusive OYO Minifigures Return For 2015

For a third year in a row, collectors will have the opportunity to pickup one of these National exclusive OYO minifigures.  As you can see, this year’s minifigures will have a hockey theme.  You can find these at booth #616P in the corporate area.  Only 100 minifigures will be given out each day of the show – 60 kids and 40 adults.  First come first serve!

If you’ve got kids, be sure to ask them about their daily building sessions.  These run from Thursday to Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Each session runs for 45 minutes.  OYO supplies you with all of the building kits.  Only ten spots available per session.

Topps To Issue Special Allen & Ginter & Gypsy Queen Cards For The ’15 NSCC

There are a lot of promos flying around the National each year.  Almost everyone has something going on in the corporate area.  I think Topps does it the best though.  The best thing about the exclusive cards Topps gives out during the National is that they can be integrated into already existing products like Allen & Ginter and Gypsy Queen.  Here is what they have going on for 2015.

Can you believe that Allen & Ginter turns ten this year?  Topps has created special die-cut Allen & Ginter cards only available at the National.  For every sealed 2015 Allen & Ginter hobby box that is brought to the Topps booth and opened in front of a Topps representative, you’ll receive a pack.  This year Topps has randomly included autographs.

Topps will also have a Gypsy Queen giveaway.  Topps will have 3-card packs that contain cards of Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa, and Byron Buxton in the 2015 Gypsy Queen design.  Look for parallels!!!  To get one of these packs, you need to open one sealed hobby box of the following 2014 or 2015 products listed below:

Leaf Announces 2015 National Wrapper Redemption Plans

Leaf always has a huge presence during the National.  I’m sure this year won’t be any different.  Their booth usually takes up the most space showcasing prizes and upcoming products.

Leaf has announced it’s wrapper redemption plans for the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention.  Collectors opening up boxes of 2015 Leaf Legends of Sport, 2015 Leaf Clear Football, 2015 Leaf Pop Century, 2014-15 Leaf In The Game Used, and 2015 Leaf Masterworks: Sports Edition, will receive a 7-card pack containing exclusive cards in the classic 1990 Leaf Baseball design.  One in every seven of these packs will have an autograph.  You can get two packs if you share on video what you like about Leaf while opening your box.

Collectors opening a case of any of those products will receive a pack with an autograph inside numbered to 10 or less.  All products must be opened at the Leaf booth in front of a representative to obtain your promos.

Super Break’s 2015 National VIP Set

The people over at Super Break put together some insane products that are a blast to open.  They may not always be at every collector’s ideal price point, but they sure are fun to watch open.

VIPs attending the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention will receive a 6-card set thanks to Super Break.  The set includes Rafael Devers, Yadier Alvarez, Gregory Bird, Luis Severino, Bradley Zimmer, and Derek Fisher.

Panini’s 2015 National VIP Set

Last year I didn’t do much of anything at the Panini booth.  Other than stop by to pick up my VIP set.  None of their required products for the wrapper redemption programs did anything for me.  Most of those required products weren’t too popular anyway.  Most likely they were required to help dealers move them off their shelves.  That’s one of the other reasons why they need to put on events like this every year.

VIPs attending the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago will find a coupon in their welcome package.  Simply take that coupon to the Panini booth and in return you’ll get a 6-card set featuring Kris Bryant, Joc Pederson, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jahlil Okafor.

Leaf Announces 2015 National Set

Leaf has always had an impressive setup during the National Sports Collectors Convention.  Its fun to see some of the new stuff coming down the pipeline.  The 2015 Leaf National set will consist of 12 cards.  VIPs will find a 4-card pack in their welcome package.  The set includes two different Yoan Moncada cards, Jamis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, Connor McDavid, Mitchell Marner, Dylan Strome, Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty, and Kyle Schwarber.

Autographed Beckett Cover Cards Coming To The 2015 National

The Beckett Cover Cards Scavenger Hunt is a popular activity to take part in for those lucky collectors attending the National Sports Collectors Convention.  I’m happy to say that it will be returning for 2015.

This year there will be (15) cards to find.  These cards can be found throughout the show from various dealers and case breakers.  In order to obtain these cards you most likely have to buy something from one of the dealers.  That is how it has worked in the past.  The picture below shows all (15) Beckett Cover Cards and where you can find them.  Just click to enlarge.  As you can see, Cubs rookie phenom Kris Bryant is featured on five of them.  All cards will be serial numbered as they have been in the past.  Golfer Jordan Spieth will have a cameo appearance on one of the cards.  Jordan Spieth really doesn’t have any cards yet, except for the one that came from Sports Illustrated for Kids.

For those collectors that obtain all (15) Beckett Cover Cards, you have a nice surprise coming your way.  When you stop by the Beckett booth and prove that you have all (15) cards, you’ll be given a blind package containing a special autographed card.  This is totally new for 2015.  These signed Beckett Cover Cards include Emmitt Smith, Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas, Cal Ripken Jr., Pete Rose, Stan Musial, Mike Modano, Jose Canseco, Dennis Rodman, and Mike Tyson.  Autographed cards will begin to be given out on Thursday, July 30th.  Only (50) autographed cards will be given out each day.

Topps Unveils 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention VIP Set

Topps has unveiled what VIPs attending the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention will find in their package.  They have put together a 5-card set of “cards that never were” in the design of the 1953 Bowman Color set.  The set includes Ernie Banks, Jackie Robinson, Al Kaline, Willie Mays, and Ted Williams.  Each VIP will receive a 4-card pack.  That means to complete the whole set, you most likely will have to trade with someone.

Like other years, Topps will have their famous Q&A session.  They will also be selling jumbo High Tek cards at their booth too.  No word yet on their wrapper redemption program, but I’m betting that it will involve Allen & Ginter somehow.  Even their apps teams will be there to demonstrate stuff.  Topps should really have some National exclusive digital cards for show attendees.

Upper Deck’s ’15 NSCC Wrapper Redemption Programs

One of my favorite things to report on each year are the promotional programs that go on during the National.  Because who doesn’t love free stuff?  There are a few different ways you can look at the giveaways.  The first is straight and simple.  Its the National and they’re giving away stuff to those collectors opening their products.  The second gets a little deeper into thought.  Why are those specific products required to participate in the programs?  The National is a great place for dealers to unload products that may not be moving very well.  Now, this train of thought in my opinion doesn’t flow with Upper Deck or Topps products.  They do promotional programs with popular products.  Panini on the other hand forces you to buy crap products in order to take part.  This is why I never participated in any of their programs last year.

I’m still surprised that Upper Deck has never made specially made Precious Metal Gem parallels for the National.  I think they would go over well.  They made some for the Industry Summit a few years ago.

With all that being said, here are the wrapper redemption programs that Upper Deck has planned so far for the 2015 National.  More info can be found on Upper Deck’s blog.

Prominent Cuts packs will contain randomly inserted autographed cards.  Plus Upper Deck has included six one-of-one cut signatures of deceased Chicago legends.  Unlike previous years, it is possible to put together a complete Prominent Cuts set all in one day.  Although you would have to open a lot of stuff and probably trade with others, Upper Deck isn’t giving out specific cards on certain days.

In order to receive (1) 2015 Upper Deck Prominent Cuts Promotional Pack you need to buy (5) packs of the following products from a Certified Diamond Dealer and open them at the Upper Deck booth:

Upper Deck Unveils 2015 NSCC VIP Set

The 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center this year in Chicago.  It runs from 7/29 to 8/2.  Upper Deck has already spilled the beans on some of the stuff they plan on doing.

Upper Deck first released their Prominent Cuts product back in 2009.  Since then the brand has been silent… until now.  Prominent Cuts plans to be all over Upper Deck’s 2015 NSCC promos.  Here is a look at the 5-card set VIPs will receive in their bags.
