Unboxing Upper Deck’s Random Acts Of Kindness Package

A big thank you to Upper Deck for sending me one of their Random Acts Of Kindness Packages. I still can’t believe all that was in the box. Shirts, blanket, card album, calendar, USB drive, break mat, jumbo Gritty Young Guns cards, pennant, lanyards, Wayne Gretzky LA Kings Funko Pop! figure, and cards!

Sealed boxes I received include 2020 Goodwin Champions, 2020-21 Trilogy Hockey, 2020-21 SPx Hockey, 2020-21 Upper Deck NHL Hockey Star Rookies Box Set, and 2020-21 SP Game-Used Edition Hockey. I can’t wait to open them.

Enclosed with the note were (3) single cards. Ryan Garcia 2020 Upper Deck Diamond Dealer Fleer Greats of the Game Auto #’ed/75, Wander Franco 2020 Upper Deck Summer Promotion Auto #’ed/25, and a Barry Sanders 2018 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Goudey Certified Diamond Dealer Auto. That’s totally insane!

Thank you again Upper Deck!

Sports Card Info Is 12 Years Old Today

Twelve years ago today Sports Card Info got it’s start.  I began blogging while in college.  Many blogs have come and gone since then, but Sports Card Info is still going strong.  I’m not 100% sure what got me started on blogging.  Before Sports Card Info I had success writing a bunch of eBay Guides about sports cards if anyone remembers those.  I guess I saw other sports card blogs starting to popup and I thought “Hey, I can do that too.”

Thanks to everyone who stops by on a regular basis.  More Card of the Day, contest, scams/fake card info, and box break & review posts coming in 2020.  Coverage of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club will be present too.

Sports Card Info’s most popular post of 2019 comes from 8/12 titled Counterfeit Frank Thomas 1990 Topps “No Name” Rookie Gets BGS Approval.  Ironically, that card was graded on 12/27/18 which was Sports Card Info’s 11th anniversary.

My biggest pull of the year came from a box of 2019 Topps Archives.  It is a Ken Griffey Jr. Fan Favorites Auto.

Lets see if we can make it to lucky #13.

Top Eleven Pulls To Celebrate Sports Card Info’s 11th Birthday

Today Sports Card Info turns eleven years old.  Thanks to everyone who checks in here on a daily basis.  Sports Card Info began when I was in college.  Many others were starting sports card blogs at the time, and I thought to myself “Hey, I can do that too.”  Lots of blogs have come and gone within that time, but Sports Card Info is still going.  I continue to keep it updated regularly.  At the very least there is a “Card of the Day” post every day.

Over the last eleven years I’ve pulled some amazing cards.  The last three years though have particularly been quite lucky.  In the past, I’ve pulled some cool stuff from Panini, Press Pass, In The Game, and Upper Deck.  But as you can see, for the last three years Topps and Leaf have been my jam.

To celebrate Sports Card Info’s 11th birthday, here is a rundown of the top eleven pulls I’ve had since the blog began in 2007.  Like I said, 2015-2018 has been extremely lucky.  Thanks again for stopping by.  Lets hope we make it to #12.

Sports Card Info Celebrates 10 Years!

On this date in 2007 Sports Card Info was born.  Blogs pertaining to sports cards were really taking off at that time.  While some are still around, many have burned out.  But Sports Card Info continues to move forward.

I’d like to thank everyone who takes time to visit each day.  As a token of my appreciation, I’ve got some 10th anniversary contests in the works.  Be sure to keep an eye out for them.

In the meantime, leave a comment on this post with a valid e-mail address by 11:59 p.m. EST on 12/27/17 for your chance to win an official Sports Card Info collectible pin.  Only (150) pins have been made.  That’s not a lot when it comes to pins.  I’ll announce who the winner is in the comment section on 12/28/17 and contact them by e-mail.  Good luck!!!

Sports Card Info T-Shirts!

One of the cooler Christmas gifts I got are a few new custom made t-shirts with “Sports Card Info” on them.  They match my pins.  Its a $10 billion brand, and the greatest thing to happen in the last 500 years 🙂

Photobucket Nightmare

I don’t post a lot of rants on here.  The internet and hobby is full of them.  But I have a MAJOR bone to pick with the photo sharing website Photobucket.  I’ve used their site for over ten years.  Even before I started blogging, I used their site to share pictures of cards on various forums.  I got so use to the site that when I began Sports Card Info I continued to use it to host my images.  Bloggers all over the world woke up Friday morning to a terrible nightmare.  Photobucket decided that they would no longer allow users to host 3rd party images for free.  It would now cost $400 per year.  If you choose not to pay, many of the Photobucket hosted images on your site would be replaced with the above picture.  Its basically a ransom.  What ticks me off the most is that they did this with no prior warning.  They just flipped the switch and didn’t care how many websites they royally messed up.

You’ll notice this picture all over Sports Card Info.  Right now it seems to start heavily all the way in the beginning up to about the middle of last May.  At first I seriously thought about paying the money because I hate that this image is all over the blog.  It looks trashy.  After giving it some more thought, I’ve decided not to pay.  Given the amount of customer complaints, I’m hoping that this was either a mistake or they reverse this new policy.  I’m not totally against paying a yearly fee, but taking it from completely free to $400 overnight with no warning is just garbage.  I’ve heard many people wanting to take legal action.  If they do, who knows if it will result in anything.

Lets hope they get the hint and switch everything back.  At the very least they could lower the fee.  It would take me another ten years to move all of my old images to a new hosting site.  That I cannot do.  I’m using WordPress to host all of my pictures now.  New posts I make should not be altered.  Working on Sports Card Info is very fun for me, and I didn’t want you to think I was just letting things go.  Talk about a terrible business decision.  For now, I’m going to wait before paying anything.

Sports Card Info Celebrates 9 Years!

 photo 9thbirthdaycandle_zps61dxwlu2.jpg

Today Sports Card Info celebrates it’s 9th birthday.  My blogging career began way back when eBay first introduced their guides.  I remember compiling a lot of information for my first eBay guide called How To Spot Fake Sports Cards That Are For Sale.  Looking back now it seems kind of generic, but it gained traction.  That led me to create my own blog.  Many blogs have come and gone in the last nine years, but I’m still around.

Thanks to everyone who visits on a regular basis.  Let us make it another great year!!!  #10 is coming in 2017!!!

Sports Card Info Now Has Pins!!!

Look what Santa brought!!!  Sports Card Info now has it’s own batch of lapel pins.  These were made by Wilson Pins.  I plan to hand these out when I go to events like the Little League World Series and National Sports Collectors Convention.  I’ve got 150 of these bad boys to give out.  Don’t be surprised if you see some popup in the weekly contest(s) as well.

These are probably one of my favorite Christmas gifts ever.  I like items that have Sports Card Info’s name on them.  Especially when I can give them away.  The Sports Card Info pins will be the #1 collectible in 2016!!!
