Love him or hate him, Alan “Mr. Mint” Rosen struck when the iron was hot when the hobby started turning more and more into a business. Over the past few decades this former copier salesman has bought and sold so much vintage sports memorabilia. World Series Press pins, T206 Honus Wagners, Mantle rookies, unopened vintage boxes, the list just goes on and on.
If you’ve ever attended any of the major shows I’m sure you’ve seen him. I’ve never seen his booth have anything for sale, he usually is there just looking to buy (and eat pizza). Most of the collectors I’ve talked to that attempted to sell him something comeback saying that all he does is low ball you a price. I don’t blame him. That’s his job, and you don’t have to take the offer. Many have accused him of taking advantage of collectors who don’t know what they have. In my opinion, that’s the collectors problem. Do your research!
Here is a clip of Mr. Mint on one of his buying trips. On this particular one he bought a vintage collection for $80,000.00. I wonder what kind of a profit he made on this trip?
As far as the above pin, it was a promotional item made for the 13th National Sports Collectors Convention.
I thought this would be a good card for today. Kane Hodder is known for playing Jason Voorhees in a few of the Friday the 13th movies. This card is serial numbered to 100 copies.
