2020 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Art/Garbage Pail Kids/Pop-Culture fans

Garbage Pail Kids have quite the cult following. Fans of these cute, violent, vulgar, destructive, and flat out disgusting characters were very happy to hear that another Chrome set would be hitting the market.

The artwork used in 2020 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Chrome comes from the Series 3 set which was originally released in 1986. (9) new pieces of art were created too. Precious Pete #AN4a and/or Gollum Gary #AN4b is one of the new pieces of artwork that I really enjoy. It shows him drooling over a box of Garbage Pail Kids Chrome. I love to see card products depicted on the actual cards themselves.

A complete base set consists of (100) cards – (50) “A” names and (50) “B” names. (50) select Garbage Pail Kids characters have C-Name Variations. C-Name Variations are difficult to pull, falling 1:101 packs. Parallels only apply to “A” and “B” names. The C-Name Variations do not have parallels. Parallels of “A” and “B” Garbage Pail Kids include – Refractor, Atomic (Blaster), Green #’ed/299, Green Wave #’ed/299, Purple #’ed/250, Purple Wave #’ed/250, Prism #’ed/199, X-Fractor #’ed/150, Black #’ed/99 (Hobby), Orange #’ed/75, Gold #’ed/50 (Hobby), Red #’ed/5, SuperFractor #’ed 1/1, and Printing Plates #’ed 1/1.

Outside of the parallels and C-Name Variations there are Artist Autographs that you can pull. These are limited to (25) copies. Artists include Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Smokin’ Joe, Tom Bunk, and Joe Simko.

Given that the C-Name Variations and Artist Autographs are difficult finds, when it comes down to it the refractors are going to be your main hits.

Garbage Pail Kids are pop-culture at it’s finest. They’re even better when they’re parodying something else.

Famed author R.L. Stine is currently writing a book series based on the Garbage Pail Kids. Book #1 Welcome to Smellville is out now. Book #2 Thrills And Chills will be coming out next. I reached out to R.L. Stine earlier this year to see if we’ll ever get a Garbage Pail Kids/Goosebumps crossover.

2020 Topps WWE Finest Wrestling Hobby Box Break & Review x 2!

Collector Type: Set/Autograph/Refractor Nuts

2020 Topps WWE Finest is every wrestling fan’s dream! It is the stylin’, profilin’, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun! Woo! Woo! Woo!

If you enjoyed the refractor-filled goodness of 2020 Topps Chrome WWE, you should have a lot of fun with 2020 Topps WWE Finest. This is the first time the WWE has received the Finest treatment. Each master box comes with (2) mini-boxes. Inside each mini-box you’ll find (6) packs, (2) parallels, and (1) autograph. That’s a total of (12) packs, (4) parallels, and (2) autographs per master box.

The base set consists of (100) cards covering both the Men’s Division and Women’s Division for WWE and NXT stars. Parallels include – Refractor, X-Fractor (Blasters), Blue Refractor #’ed/150, Green Refractor #’ed/99, Orange Refractor #’ed/50, Black Refractor #’ed/25, Gold Refractor #’ed/10, Red Refractor #’ed/5, and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1.

Cards #101-#125 are part of the Extended Base set (Short Prints). People like The Big Show, Kane, John Cena, The Rock, Bret “Hit Man” Heart, Goldberg, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin have cards in here. Even Gronk got a card! Parallels of the SPs include Gold #’ed/10, Red #’ed/5, and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1.

Both Finest and Chrome are a refractor lovers paradise. The main difference between the two are how the photos are displayed. Chrome goes full bleed and leaves the background intact. Finest crops out the background and swaps in a shiny patterned backdrop.

Pulling a SuperFractor is always atop the mind’s of collectors. Its incredibly difficult to do, but exciting when it happens. The SuperFractors found in 2020 Topps WWE Finest are a bit toned-down. What I’m trying to say is that the pattern doesn’t overtake the card and become the main focus. Very nice looking!

Autographs include Finest Autographs, Decade’s Finest Debuts Autographs, Decade’s Finest Returns Autographs, Decade’s Finest Superstars Autographs, and Finest Tag Teams Autographs.

Inserts include Decade’s Finest Debuts, Decade’s Finest Returns, Decade’s Finest Superstars, Finest Careers Die-Cuts Steve Austin, and Finest Tag Teams.

I really like how the Finest Careers Die-Cuts Steve Austin cards came out. They’re in the shape of a skull.

Members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club have been offered some interesting non-baseball products to purchase so far for the 2021 membership – Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Sapphire Edition, 2019/20 UEFA Champions League Chrome Sapphire Edition. I wouldn’t put it past Topps to see them come up with a WWE Chrome Sapphire Edition or something along that line. Just something to think about.

2020 Topps Stadium Club Chrome Baseball Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Autograph/Refractor Nuts

2020 has been a crazy year for sports cards. We’ve seen some incredible pulls, and big $$$ sales. With a ton of prospects making their debut this year, get ready for a slew of new rookie cards coming in 2021. Personally, I’m looking forward to rookie cards of Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm.

It has been twenty years since Stadium Club Chrome was a standalone product. In May of 2000 collectors received their first taste of what Chrome-styled Stadium Club cards would look like. Over the last few years collectors have enjoyed the Stadium Club Chrome inserts found within the main Stadium Club set.

2020 Topps Stadium Club Chrome consists of (400) cards. That is (100) more cards compared to the standard Stadium Club product. Parallels include – Refractor, X-fractor (Blaster), Wave Refractor (1:113 packs), Gold Refractor #’ed/50, Orange Refractor #’ed/25 (Hobby), Red Refractor #’ed/5, and SuperFractor #’ed 1/1.

Autographs include Base Autographs, Beam Team Autographs, and Lone Star Signatures.

Inserts include Beam Team, Emperors of the Zone, and Power Zone.

Photography has always been the driving force with this brand. On-card autographs on chrome stock with various refractors to chase takes it to a whole new level. Very eye appealing especially when the photo Topps used has a brightly colored background.

This product’s return has been highly anticipated ever since it was first announced. It appeals to a variety of collectors. Even if you don’t pull a life altering hit you’re guaranteed to find some attractive cards you can add to your collection.

2020 certainly is the year for Chrome. Everything seems to be getting a Chrome edition. It won’t be long until we see Stadium Club Chrome Sapphire Edition.

When in doubt, Chrome it out.
