(3) 2018 Leaf Holiday Bonus Pack Break

As I mentioned yesterday, purchasing a box of 2018 Leaf Valiant Football from Atlanta Sports Cards qualified me for (3) 2018 Leaf Holiday Bonus Packs.  Inside each pack is (1) autograph, relic, or printing plate.  Some of the cards are specially made for these packs.  Others are just old inventory they want to get rid of.

During the 2018 National Sports Collectors Convention I pulled out this Babe Ruth/Shohei Ohtani dual relic #’ed 1/1 from a box of 2018 Leaf In The Game Used Sports.  It wouldn’t surprise me if the printing plates used to make that card end up in these packs someday.

Here is what I pulled:

  • Johnny Manziel 2018 Leaf Happy Holidays Auto
  • Mario Lemieux/Jaromir Jagr 2017-18 Leaf In The Game Used Hockey Dynamic Duos Black Printing Plate #’ed 1/1
  • Shinobu Asagoe 2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series Relic #’ed/500

The 2018 National – Day #3

My third and final day of the 2018 National Sports Collectors Convention has come to an end.  I spent most of it browsing the show floor and taking pictures of all the amazing items.

The first stop I made was to Chicagoland Sports Cards where I had them open a new case of 2018 Leaf In The Game Used Sports.  I chose the box on the upper left corner.  Boy did I pick a good one.  One of my hits is a Babe Ruth/Shohei Ohtani dual relic #’ed 1/1!!!  Like I mentioned earlier, I’ll go into full details about what came out of my boxes I bought in Cleveland once I get home.  The scans will look nice.

At 5:30 p.m. Topps held their Q&A session.  This was the first time I had ever attended one of these meetings.  It was fun and educating to hear collector’s questions and concerns.  Only (150) spots were available for this meeting.  Everyone that attended the meeting received a specially made Francisco Lindor autograph #’ed/50.  Not every card uses the same photo of Francisco Lindor either.  At least (3) different photos were used.  Here is a video of the entire Q&A courtesy of Sports Card News/Sports Card Radio.

Every collector should be able to attended at least one National.  No show gets better than this.  I’ll be heading home on Saturday.  I’ve got a feeling the weekend will be very crowded.

This show was a blast.  I got to meet some awesome people, take great pictures, get some autographs, and pull some cool cards.

2016 National – Day #3

My third and final day of the 2016 National Sports Collectors Convention began at the Topps booth.  Topps moves people through fairly quickly and my wait time was well under an hour.  Out of the (5) promo packs my 2016 Bowman box got me, I pulled a Babe Ruth Gold Refractor #’ed/50.  When I first saw this promotion I was hoping to pull a Ruth.  From what I saw and heard, this specialized National Bowman Refractor Wrapper Redemption Program has been very successful.  Marty’s Sports Card Exchange was selling tons of 2016 Bowman and 2016 Topps Chrome Baseball boxes.  All of those qualified for the program.

Its best to eat lunch about an hour earlier than normal.  The food court can fill up fast around noon.  Once I finished browsing through my 2016 Bowman box I decided to eat.  Their personal pan pizza is quite good.

I decided to add a vintage bobblehead to my collection.  All of my bobbleheads are from the 2000’s and up, but I never owned an older one.  When it comes to vintage bobbleheads during the National, you want to visit this dude.  He has a few.  Within that large glass case I found some Phillies bobbleheads.  After a little negotiating, we reached a deal.  I’m bringing home a 1967 gold base Phillies bobblehead.  Its in great condition, and is the highlight of my collection.

I was able to score a free Upper Deck hat today.  While stopping in their booth to look at a Penn State autographed helmet, they saw me wearing my Topps hat.  Upper Deck wanted me to give up the Topps hat in return for the Upper Deck one.  That wasn’t going to happen.  Instead I gave the Upper Deck representative a Sports Card Info pin.  Lots of people got pins today, including Leaf’s CEO Brian Gray.

One of the last booths I stopped at was Jerzee Art.  The National isn’t always about cards, boxes, and promos.  Sometimes you’ll see innovators.  Jerzee Art is a new way to display your favorite jerseys without having to place them in a frame.  Framing can get expensive, and they plan to offer some unique alternatives.  Jerzee Art pieces look like statues you hang on the wall and place the jersey on.  They really do bring the jersey to life rather than having it lay flat in a frame.  Jerzee Art was created by Scott MacKenzie who had some prototypes on display.  He plans to have them for sale in the fall.

Tomorrow I’ll be heading home.  My sixth National was really fun.  Like I said before, once I’m home I’ll be posting what I pulled from the boxes I busted.  I might even post a picture of that vintage bobblehead I purchased.  Right now its heavily covered in bubble wrap.

Don’t forget to check out my coverage of Day #1 and Day #2 of the 2016 National.  Next year the National is in Chicago.  I won’t be attending.  Its going back to Cleveland in 2018 which I will be going to so far.

Unboxing The TeenyMates NFL Series 3 Collectors Tin

 photo ANDREWCHRISMAN-WIN_20140906_110907a_zps9dfa6652.jpg

The 2014 NFL season is officially underway!!!  There are new rookies to watch, and new TeenyMates figures to collect.

The Party Animal, Inc. (makers of TeenyMates) have put together a nice collectors tin for those fans interested in starting their own TeenyMates collection.  This tin includes the following:

  • NFL Standings Stadium Display
  • 4 Packs of NFL Series 3 TeenyMates
  • (1) Glow-in-the-Dark Neon Orange figure (this is the only place you can get this figure)

In all, NFL Series 3 contains eight chase figures – camouflage, glow-in-the-dark, Patriots Throwback, Broncos Throwback, NFL Line Judge, and Metallic Gold Finish.  Then you have the neon orange glow-in-the-dark figure found in the collectors tin, and a Target exclusive Monster figure.  It still amazes me as to how much some of these chase figures sell for.

From the tin I opened, I pulled figures of the Patriots, Browns, Bengals, Texans, Cowboys, Bears, Panthers, and Rams.  Plus the neon orange figure.  These are the nicest looking TeenyMates they’ve released.  The arms on the figures are away from the player’s body, and the team logos are much larger.

The MSRP on the TeenyMates Collectors Tin is $19.99.  This item and lots of other cool stuff can be found in the Lil’ Teammates Shop.
