Unboxing The TeenyMates NFL Series 4 Collectors Tin

 photo collectortinseries4mflteenymates_zpsdyge93ad.jpg

Its no surprise that the TeenyMates people decided to put together another collectible tin product this year.  Especially when it comes to their Series 4 NFL figures.  Last fall, TeenyMates released their first packaged tin product with their line of Series 3 NFL figures.  That tin became one of the most popular products that TeenyMates ever released.  For some reason the production run was low, and they were eventually difficult to find.  What once sold for around $15.00 skyrocketed to almost $100.00.  Today those Series 3 tins have settled at $50.00 if still found sealed.  The Series 4 NFL TeenyMates tin is popular with collectors, but I highly doubt you’ll see it reach the price range of last year’s product.  I’m sure production is up after seeing the popularity of Series 3.

Inside the Series 4 NFL TeenyMates tin you’ll find a bunch of stuff.  You’ve got a stand, (4) packs of Series 4 NFL TeenyMates, and an exclusive referee figure.  All figures look like tiny linebackers.  Rare figures to look for include Robomate (1:37), Glow-In-The-Dark (1:64), Seattle Seahawks Throwback (1:128), Crystal Ice Figure (1:171), Washington Redskins Throwback (1:256), and Metallic Gold Finish (1:512).  These rare figures can command major dollars on the secondary market.

I think its safe to say that The Party Animal, Inc. (makers of TeenyMates) have a winner on their hands.  When collectors are willing to spend hundreds on a tiny rare figure, you know you’re doing something right.  Series 4 tins can be found for $18.00… for now 🙂

I opened a tin and pulled the following figures:

  • (1) Saints
  • (1) Cardinals
  • (1) Packers
  • (1) Lions
  • (1) Jets
  • (1) Texans
  • (1) Giants
  • (1) Broncos
  • (1) Referee

Unboxing The Uncle’s Cards #4 – The Final Unboxing

Its been over five months since I’ve given an update on the uncle’s cards.  Its not that I stopped going through them.  I just hadn’t found anything really worth talking about.  This past weekend I worked my way through the last few boxes.  There were lots of base/inserts from the 90’s and 2000’s, but nothing that carried a whole lot of value.  Even if I had found an individual card, it most likely would have been damaged.  Many of the cards in these final boxes were beat up pretty bad.  The most promising stack of cards I came across was a ton of 2001 Bowman Baseball.  I was hoping to find an Ichiro or Pujols rookie, but it never showed up.  The only note worthy card was a Miguel Cabrera #299 error, but it wasn’t in the best condition.

The last bin I went through was stuffed with loose cards, extremely thick holders which were empty, and old albums.  Working my way through the clutter, I did find three sealed boxes worth trying to sell:

2010 Topps Factory Set w/ 1958 Mickey Mantle Gold Chrome

There really isn’t much to look for in the box of 1995 Fleer.  The 1993 Topps Traded Factory Set has Todd Helton’s best rookie, but that’s about it.  All the value is in the 2010 Topps Factory Set which has a 1958 Mickey Mantle Gold Chrome card.

“Pin-Up” of the Week: 2014 Wrigley Field Opening Day – April 4 – Cubs vs. Phillies Pin

 photo 14openingdaypin_zpse6118e03.jpg

Opening Day is less than two months away.  The Phillies start the season off in Chicago against the Cubs on April 4.  I’m really hoping that the Phillies have a better season this year.  They’ve made their share of moves over the winter, but I think they need younger guys.  Management continues to keep bringing older players on board.  What the Phillies need is about nine Bryce Harper’s, and maybe a few Mike Trout’s.  The older players just keep getting injured one after another.  Cole Hamels will already miss opening day because of shoulder tendinitis.  I’d really like to know what’s behind upper management’s thinking.

No matter what happens, Opening Day is coming.  This pin can easily be found for under $10.00.

Update

Looks like I was wrong.  The Phillies start the season against Texas on 3/31.

I have #’s 6 & 9.  So far none of the rookie cards are autographed.  The chances of one of mine containing a signature keep going up 🙂

Guess the Set? Part 4

Can you guess the name of this set just by looking at the card’s border?  No hints this time 🙂
