“Pin-Up” of the Week: Wilt Chamberlain Philadelphia 76ers Jersey Pin

Today is the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points in a single game.  The game took place on March 2, 1962 at the Hersheypark Arena against the New York Knicks.  At the time Chamberlain was playing for the Philadelphia Warriors.  In that game, Chamberlain shot 36 of 63 from the field and made 28 of 32 free throws.  This is a record that I don’t believe will ever be broken.

The 76ers were looking for a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this huge accomplishment.  The wooden basketball floor that was used during the 60’s has been kept in storage for decades.  The 76ers decided to purchase some of the pieces, cut them up, and give them to fans at tonight’s game.  Hershey kept some pieces to put on display.

I bet there are a few card company’s that would love to get their hands that old wood 🙂  Here is a link to the news story I saw on T.V. this morning.
