Happy Birthday Bob Uecker & Wayne Gretzky!

Did you know that Bob Uecker and Wayne Gretzky share the same birthday today?  Thats what you call an odd couple.  The only reason I know this is because today is my mom’s birthday too.

Gretzky is probably one of the most popular hockey player’s in history, and even if you don’t follow sports, I bet you’ve heard his name.  He has thousands of cards, tons containing autographs and relics.  Uecker on the other hand has very few cards, 20 at the most.  His rookie can be found in 1962 Topps.  As far as I know, he has no certified autographs or cards containing relics.  Uecker is one player I think collectors would love to see autographs and relics of.  Judging by the sale of his cards, he seems to be very popular.

Birthday Box Breaks

Busting all those boxes was a lot of fun!!!!!  The ’08 Ultimate Collection yieled the lowest numbered card.  Pulling a Phillies relic is also good.  Take a look.

Birthday Box Break Review

These three boxes were really fun to open.  The 2007 Leaf Certified Materials box had some great hits including my first autographed jersey pulled from that product.  2008 Donruss Black was a great one pack thrill with the seven 1/1 printing plates in which two of them are autographed.  I think my favorite plate is the Wynn.  The 2008 Topps Finest box had a ton of inserts and is great for any collector.  Usually, you get two rookie autographs and a veteran autograph.  I did better.  I got two veterans and one rookie.  I also pulled the #4 redemption card.  I like not knowing who that is of yet.  Maybe this year Topps will include two autographs in their redemption card set.  One of my favorite cards from the Finest box is the Alex Rodriguez Finest Moments Gold Refractor #’ed/50.  Overall, these were three great boxes to open on my birthday.

Sneak peak of tomorrow’s birthday breaks……..

A few weeks ago, I was told that for my birthday I could choose three boxes to purchase.  I chose the following:

(1) 2008 Topps Finest Baseball box – contains 3 mini boxes

(1) 2007 Leaf Certified Materials Football box – 4 hits

(1) 2008 Donruss Black Football box – contains 7 1/1 printing plates, 2 are autographed

I have had these three boxes sitting in my room for over a week and the plastic is still on them.  I’m very proud of myself.  I lasted longer than what I thought I could 🙂  Tomorrow I will break them, since its my birthday, and report back the results.  I’ll also give a review of each product.  Hope you stay tuned and come back tomorrow to see what I pulled.  Remember what Forest Gump says, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get.”
