Boomer and Dugout. Two mascots that rule the town of Williamsport, PA. Boomer being the mascot of the Williamsport Crosscutters and Dugout the mascot of the Little League World Series. It only seems natural that both would appear on a pin.
Outside of eBay and the Little League Store’s website, Little League pins for the most part need to be acquired in person. Even the Little League Store’s website doesn’t sell every pin you’d find in their physical location. This pin is a perfect example of that.
In August 2016, Little League and the Crosscutters came together and made this two-pin set. The half with Boomer could only be obtained directly from the Crosscutters, while the Dugout side could be found at the Little League Museum. (500) Boomer pins were given out to Crosscutters fans on 8/26/16. I think its safe to say (500) Dugout pins were made too. Considering they go together, it doesn’t make sense to make less or more of either side. One set recently sold on the secondary market for $58. Not too bad considering the cards they come affixed to value each pin at $5.

The Crosscutters held their 8th annual Hot Stove Banquet at the Genetti Hotel last evening. It was a night filled with old friends, new friends, great food, stories, giveaways, and autographs. Some of the guests included Philadelphia Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg, Phillies third baseman Cody Asche, and Phillies broadcaster Greg Murphy. Returning for a second year in a row was Montoursville native and former major league third baseman Tom O’Malley.
Whoever made the decision to hold the Chinese Auction out in the lobby is a genius. This allowed for more tables in the ballroom and a lot more room to eat at your seat. In the past things have been a bit cramped. The only drawback to the evening was that everyone wasn’t able to get autographs from all the guests. After obtaining signatures from Cody Asche and Greg Murphy, I went to get in line to see Ryne Sandberg. Unfortunately they cut the line off for Sandberg right in front of me. That’s alright. I had never attempted to get three autographs during this sold out event before. On a positive note though, when I returned to the table I discovered I had won a prize pack from the Chinese Auction.

The prize pack I won was donated by the State College Spikes. It included a T-shirt, signed baseball, signed program, and a Stan Belinda mini bobblehead the Spikes gave away last year.

I have been to a bunch of games in my life and have received a lot of weird stadium handouts when going through the front gate. This has to be one of the coolest bobbleheads I have ever received at a game. This is “Boomer” the Williamsport Crosscutters new mascot. It was given to the first 1,000 fans at last Friday night’s game. I was able to pick up three and man am I glad I did. I can’t believe what one of these sold for.
