Exclusive Roberto Clemente Card From Steel City Collectibles For National Attendees

 photo SteelCity_Clemente1_zps323244fe.jpg

One of the top things to do while attending the National Sports Collectors Convention is bust boxes.  There are always plenty of dealers ready to provide you with your box breaking fix.  Among the dealers you’ll find is Steel City Collectibles out of McKeesport, PA.  And guess what?  They have a promo for this year’s National.  While supplies last, anyone who purchases a box from the Steel City Collectibles booth will receive a Roberto Clemente Beckett Sports Card Monthly cover card.  This card looks just like the cover to an issue of BSCM, and is a National exclusive.  Limited quantities will be available.

More ITG Goodness

Knobs and barrels are probably the two most interesting parts of a baseball bat.  This Clemente knob is just flat out gorgeous, and can be found in “Heroes & Prospects”.

More Photos From The ’09 Little League World Series

This morning I headed up to the Little League World Series in Williamsport.  This year I had a lot more fun because I took part in many of the promotional campaigns some of the major sponsors were doing.  Aside from baseball and football cards, I also collect pins.  Pin trading is HUGE at the Little League World Series.  Obtaining some of the pins from the sponsors reminded me of being at The National, because you need to do certain things to get a pin.  I had a really good time and if you’re a baseball fan you should go.  I even found a few baseball cards 🙂  When I was there, Mexico and Canada were playing.  Click on each photo to enlarge.

All I had to do was answer a few questions at the Honda booth and they handed me this pin.

Quality Inn was just giving these away at their booth.

Coca-Cola gave me this pin because I recycled one of their soda bottles at their booth.

While I was getting lunch, a man came up to me and said he was an umpire for Little League and gave me this pin.  Its an umpire pin from Johnson City, TN.

These cards were a giveaway from Sunkist.  Upper Deck made them back in 2005 for the Little League World Series.  Each came wrapped in a clear pack.  There are 5 cards to the set.

This Was A Nice Card

Mario of Wax Heaven spotted this and I thought I should report it too.  The above card is currently up for sale with a “Buy It Now” of $1,499.99 and users can submitt offers.  Take a look at the patches.  Anything stick out to you?  The Mantle and Clemente patches to me stick out right away.  They look way to new to be from players that old.  This card probably looked really nice before someone hacked it up.  eBay seller 2006cardsbuyer is trying to get rid of it.  They may have purchased the card and realized it was a fake and are trying to pawn it off to someone else or they hacked the card up all on their own.
