“Pin-Up” of the Week: 2014 Williamsport Crosscutters Stadium Giveaway Collectible Pin Series

The 2014 Little League World Series is officially underway in South Williamsport.  You know what that means?  New pins!!!  The Little League World Series is a prime place to pick-up a ton of new promotional pins.  Its just not the corporate sponsors setup on the Little League campus that give out pins either.  Many of the businesses throughout Williamsport have them too.

It took a little time, but the Williamsport Crosscutters have finally decided to give out some pins.  The Crosscutters will be giving out specific pins during certain home games that take place during the 2014 Little League World Series.  These pins are usually saved for the first 1,000 fans through the gate.  As you can see, there are four total pins which will be given out between 8/13/14 and 8/21/14.  None of the pins have anything to do with Little League Baseball, but from a marketing standpoint it makes perfect sense to be giving out pins while the Little League World Series is going on.

I don’t know why it took so long for them to come around to this.  Pin #3 was once sold in the Crosscutters gift shop because I already have it.  That makes me think this was a last minute promotion they probably put together.  Perhaps they got the idea from that tweet I sent them back in June.

 

2013 Topps Big League Minis Coming Next Summer

Look out Lil’ Teammates.  You’ve got some competition.  This June, Topps plans to release 2013 Topps Big League Minis.  These 3″ vinyl figures will come in packs, and you can try to collect the entire 28-figure set.  Each pack will contain (1) figure.  Unlike Lil’ Teammates, these figures will be of specific players.  There is even word that they plan to make some variation figures to keep an eye out for.

It doesn’t surprise me that Topps decided to venture into this market.  Just take a look at what one of the rare TeenyMates figures recently sold for.  Collectible vinyl figures are hot!

Lil’ Teammates Collectible Team Sets = Great Holiday Gift Item

Lil’ Teammates – Cool Little Dudes

The other week I was browsing Phillies.com to see what new items they had in their shop, and one thing caught my eye – Lil’ Teammates.  They did exactly what they were suppose to do, and that was jump out at me.  Lil’ Teammates are collectible 3″ sports figures made by The Party Animal.  Kids can play with them, register them online, and use for gaming.  They are brand new for 2010, and Series 1 contains over 200 figures.  Series 2 is currently in the works, and they eventually hope to produce figures that are variants and/or come in limited quantities.  This would really boost their popularity because collectors love stuff like that.  Maybe its the size, colors, or packaging, I think they just look cool.  They look excellent sitting on your office desk too.  Its impossible to look at them and not smile 🙂

Today I received a package that contained two figures from the Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Dolphins, and Penn State.  Don’t be surprised if you see one pop-up during my videos when I’m reviewing a box break.  I just might use some as contest prizes too.

Cool Collectible: Pin Relics

I’m sure by now most of you know that I am a huge pin collector, especially sports pins.  Thats why I got excited why I saw this 2008 All-Star Game pin containing infield dirt from Yankee Stadium.  This is the only pin I’ve ever seen that has a relic inside.  These were only given to members of the media during last year’s All-Star Game.  I wonder if bloggers fall in that category 🙂  Pins like this can get a little expensive.  Online they sell for about $50.00 but I’ve seen one at a show for $125.00.  It seems like relics can be inserted into anything.  This is definitely one cool collectible.
