Jamie Cooper is an amazing artist. This former professional footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL) has gone on to create fantastic pieces of artwork that are on display all over the world. You definitely should check out his stuff.
Here in America, collectors, sports fans, and art enthusiasts know him best for the Phillies Dream Scene that hangs on display outside the Diamond Club at Citizens Bank Park. Mr. Cooper has also painted a Yankees Dream Scene which was auctioned off by Legendary Auctions in 2013 in Chicago during the National Sports Collectors Convention. An All Stars Dream Scene was painted too for a private collector in California.
Owning the actual paintings isn’t something every collector can do. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy his artwork. High-quality prints are a much more affordable option. Luckily he offers these prints for most of his work. I have one of the Phillies Dream Scene on my wall right now. It looks terrific.
Recently it was brought to my attention that counterfeit prints of Jamie Cooper’s work have been floating around. They’ve shown up for sale on Facebook. Judging by the pictures, they’re of very poor quality. You can tell that these scammers simply swiped the images off of his website, and are just trying to make a quick dollar. DO NOT BUY!!! If you see them pop up on your feed, please report it to Facebook. For those of you that did get duped, please let me know how your experience went.
If you’re looking for an authentic Jamie Cooper print, the best way to know that its 100% genuine is to purchase it directly from his shop.
Take a gander at these fakes.

Renowned sports artist Jamie Cooper recently completed his latest piece of MLB artwork. This masterpiece was done for a private collector in California. After working on it for three years in Australia, its finally arrived in its new home. Complete with a museum grade frame of water gild gold leaf. This All Stars painting now rests peacefully in what looks like a very high-end collection located on a sprawling seven-acre estate on the side of a mountain. The collector’s name was left unsaid for privacy. I think we can all agree this collector has some cool stuff we can only dream about owning. Jamie Cooper documented his entire trip to the U.S. on Facebook. There you can see where this painting now resides. In addition to the painting, its fun to look around the room to see what else is there. I spot a lot of bats, and what looks like some 1992 Donruss Diamond Kings – Supers. Jamie Cooper is pictured on the right, with the owner to the left.
One glance at this painting and you’ll see a who’s who of ballplayers coming from multiple generations. Much like the Phillies and Yankees Dream Scenes he has done. My eyes go straight to Mike Schmidt. That powder blue uniform and red hat really stand out. I think I can even see Jamie Cooper and the painting’s owner back there behind the dugout next to Nolan Ryan. I wonder what all these guys are talking about while sitting around 1933 Comiskey Park?
Card companies here in America need to recognize Jamie Cooper’s talent. His work would look great on some MLB sets. He’s already done caricatures for an AFL product.

Jamie Cooper recently showed off a portion of his latest masterpiece. The artist behind the Phillies and Yankees Dream Scenes has been working on a painting for a private collector in the United States. This piece takes place in 1933 at Comiskey Park, which is the site of the very first All-Star Game. Over twenty of this private collector’s favorite baseball players will be featured in this painting. Players include Mickey Mantle, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, and Hank Aaron. I haven’t heard yet whether or not prints will be made available. When the painting is complete, I’ll be sure to share a picture.
Outside of his U.S. projects, Jamie Cooper has been quite busy. He recently did a series of caricatures which were used for an Australian Football League card product. The caricatures were printed in 3D, and fall 1:60 packs. I would highly suggest U.S. card companies to give his work a look. I believe he could make some interesting looking stuff for American sports cards. Next on his plate is a Dream Scene for the Spanish soccer club Atlético Madrid.
You can now purchase prints directly from Jamie Cooper’s shop. His prints make great gifts. Go buy something!!!

Artist Jamie Cooper posted these additional sketches on Facebook of the Yankees Dream Scene he is currently working on. Remember, these are just rough sketches but it is fun to see the different layouts and how the painting arrives at its final stage. Many more details will be added. Once the painting is complete, it will be auctioned off during the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention this summer.

Jamie Cooper is at it again! The artist that brought us the Phillies Dream Scene painting will soon begin work on another dream scene. This one will be based on the New York Yankees. Mr. Cooper will start painting this week, and plans to have it completed by the end of April. The finished piece will measure 6ft by 4ft and will be auctioned off during the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago, IL.
Below is a preliminary rough sketch of what the finished piece will look like. Along with the rough sketch, Mr. Cooper sent over the story that goes along with it. No word yet on whether prints will be made available.
The story so far.
We are taken to a private corner of a mythical Yankees Clubhouse. One that reflects the changing décor of the rooms over the past 100 years. All is smoky and atmospheric. And here, as if a time machine has skimmed back through history, are the 5 greatest Yankees to have donned the famous pinstripes.
From left to right.
Babe Ruth reclines holding the war club with which he hit the 60th home run in 1927. Inscribed on it are the initials T.Z (Tom Zachary – the unfortunate pitcher). He sits in front of his metal locker from the late 1920’s and 30’s. Perhaps a door could be open to reveal a big fur coat, a box of cigars and other features of the man’s tastes and fashion in the 20’s.
Above it is the famous Yankees façade that is a feature of the current day clubhouse.
Derek Jeter stands overlooking the group with a friendly hand resting on Gehrig’s shoulder. This symbolizes the respect felt toward him from all the Yankees faithful.
Lou Gehrig himself is central in this scene. Proud yet humbled to be part of this elite group, he is happy to let the bigger personalities take the limelight. But in reality, he is the embodiment of the Yankees great tradition.
Mickey Mantle circa 1956, leans in to join the fun with a big, all American smile and a can of Ballantine beer in his hand.
Behind them are 2 iconic lockers from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Mantle’s on the left and DiMaggios’ on the right.
In Mantle’s locker are towels from the period, lots of bandages, a bottle of Yoo Hoo, pictures of loved ones and a reference to his triple crown in 1956.
DiMaggio’s locker will feature a carton of Chesterfields, a picture of Marilyn, and a news cutting of his 56 game hitting streak. The clothes hanging will reflect his wardrobe of the time. There will also be a small written slogan from Joe saying, “I’d like to thank the good lord for making me a Yankee”.
DiMaggio himself casts an eye across the scene to Ruth, the two of them, as gatekeepers to this magical moment and as elder statesmen of the greatest baseball club on the planet. Of course he has a Chesterfield in his hand.
Behind him to the right are the wonderful industrial looking lockers of the early 1920’s. There will be plenty of balls and towels scattered around, a couple of beer cans and other post game paraphernalia. The carpet in the foreground is the one from the current day clubhouse featuring the small NY logos.

A few weeks ago I received a package in the mail from Jamie Cooper who painted the Phillies “Dream Scene” painting that hangs in the Diamond Club of Citizens Bank Park. Inside the package were two signed prints of this famous piece of art. I decided to get one framed to place on my wall. As a Phillies fan, this is a great addition to my personal collection.
