Design:
Crown Royale is one of the most overly designed products out on the market. Each card seems to be going in about a million different directions. I don’t mind the die-cut design, in fact I prefer it, but there is just too much going on.
The silhouette cards this year don’t look as nice as the ones from 2011. They feature white boxes and some of them have sticker autographs.
The 2011 silhouette cards don’t have an encased autographed. I believe these look a lot better.
I’m all for anything die-cut. When I first saw these I thought someone had taken a bite out of it.
Price:
Boxes are currently selling for $100.00.
“Hit” Quality:
Inside each box you should find at least (4) “hits”.
I pulled the following:
Auto/Relic
Autos
Relic
Rookies
Majestic Motion
Field Force
NFL Regime
Pivotal Players
Overall:
Overall, I give 2012 Crown Royale Football a very generous 3 crowns out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect). My main beef I have with it is the overly complicated design. The silhouette cards were designed much better last year. The Crown Royale brand was a major part of Pacific when they produced cards. Pacific made a lot of popular inserts back in the 90’s. I’d like to see Panini use the Crown Royale brand as a launching pad to bring some of those inserts back.

This year Miguel Cabrera became the first player to win the Triple Crown since Carl Yastrzemski back in 1967. Its going to be a long time before we see this happen again. That’s if it happens at all. Cabrera’s cards are red hot. 2000 Topps Traded and 2000 Topps Chrome Traded is where you will find his true rookies. As you can imagine, they’re going off the charts right now. Its definitely not the time to be buying.
Miguel Cabrera’s first Bowman cards came in 2001. Normally these would be his true rookies, but that’s not the case here. Collectors are spending big bucks on these, and they don’t even picture Miguel Cabrera. The picture is of some other dude. The name and stats on the back are all Cabrera’s, but not the picture.
Take a look at some of these prices for a non-rookie picturing the wrong guy:
Not too bad.

With I’ll Have Another retiring yesterday, it doesn’t look like we’ll have a Triple Crown winner this year. I guess its better for the horse in the long run. Now he’ll get to enjoy the rest of his life getting paid $50,000.00 to stud. Now that’s a job! Realizing how much money there is in studding makes me think of this towel I have in my bathroom that could potentially be worth $100 million 🙂 Hey, if Sports Card Info doesn’t make it, I’ll need something to fall back on.
This pin set is one of the more in demand collectibles this year. Selling for around $30.00, you get four pins – 138th Kentucky Derby, 137th Preakness, Belmont Stakes, and a Triple Crown commemorative pin. The set is limited to 500.

This contest will be for a Xavier Henry 11-12 Panini Preferred Crown Royale silhouette jersey/auto #’ed/99. I think Panini did an excellent job with the look of these cards. You would think by covering up the jersey piece a little would hurt the overall design, but collectors seem to really enjoy these. Good luck!!!
