2022 Topps Baseball Factory Set Hobby (Red Box) Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set (obviously)

If you collected enough Topps Baseball Factory Sets and stacked them up I bet you could play an awesome game of Jenga. Nowadays the Topps Baseball Factory Sets arrive in more colors than M&M’s.

The Hobby version of the 2022 Topps Baseball Factory Set consists of (660) cards. That’s (330) cards from Series 1, and (330) cards from Series 2.

Set collectors obviously like the convenience of receiving Series 1 and Series 2 all in one box. Spencer Torkelson, Bobby Witt Jr., and Julio Rodriguez come as bonus cards. These three cards come as secondary options of cards #658, #659, and #660. You won’t see them on the checklist which is printed on the outside of the box. So it might come as a surprise to some people. Each Factory Set format should contain these bonus cards.

Parallels add a bit of a mystery element to the Factory Sets. The Hobby version will come with (5) Foilboard parallels #’ed/390.

There are at least (7) different Factory Set formats you can buy. Each has the same (660) card set. Exclusive cards vary from set to set.

2022 Topps 582 Montgomery Club Factory Set Update

When members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club opened their exclusive factory set they were a little disappointed to see that key rookie cards of Bobby Witt Jr., Spencer Torkelson, and Julio Rodriguez did not come with the 582 Montgomery Club foil stamp printed on them.

Topps heard the disappointment and sent this e-mail out to members last night:

Members like myself were pleasantly surprised to see this e-mail. It sounds like members will be getting additional rookies of Bobby Witt Jr., Spencer Torkelson, and Julio Rodriguez with the foil stamp on them. I don’t think anyone saw this coming. When they arrive I’ll be sure to show them off.

2022 Topps 582 Montgomery Club Factory Set Arrives

The final perk of the 2022 Topps 582 Montgomery Club membership recently arrived. Last but not least is the 582 Montgomery Club foil-stamped factory set.

This factory set consists of (660) cards (Series 1 and 2) with each card containing the 582 Montgomery Club foil stamp.

A big FYI needs to be provided here. During the National Sports Collectors Convention Topps held their Q&A session. In that meeting they mentioned that despite Spencer Torkelson, Bobby Witt Jr., and Julio Rodriguez not having base rookies in Series 2 the 582 Montgomery Club factory set would have rookies of them. This is 100% true. But none of them come with the 582 Montgomery Club foil stamp. This isn’t a mistake of some kind. Topps did the same thing with the 2022 All-Star factory set too. Its a little disappointing, but kind of expected.

Current members should be notified shortly about when its time to renew. That’s assuming Topps continues the club. I enjoy the sets, and early access to online-exclusive products.

I have a suggestion for Topps. It would be cool to see some Topps Chrome Sapphire Edition cards of MLB mascots and managers. I don’t believe this has ever been done before. I’d like to see at least one of the sets shipped to club members throughout the year cover something like that.

2021 Topps 582 Montgomery Club Set #3 + Factory Set

It has been a little while, but Topps has finally gotten around to shipping 582 Montgomery Club members their exclusive sets that come with the membership.

Set #3 recently arrived. It contains (20) cards utilizing a lost design. The Fernando Tatis Jr. and Bobby Dalbec cards are my favorites. Set #4 has been shipped and is on the way. Right now members are voting on which players to include in Set #5.

2020 Topps 582 Montgomery Club – Set #5 & Factory Set

Renewing my membership to the Topps 582 Montgomery Club was a fairly easy decision. You get what you pay for and so much more. I truly believe it is the best bang for your buck. Tons of value.

The ability to pre-order online-exclusive products before the general public is worth the price alone. In 2020 I was able to flip some of these products on the secondary market making some easy coin. For those products I decided to rip, my hits were quite solid and I ended up breaking even. After seeing what some of their products wound up selling for on eBay (2020 Topps Baseball’s Finest Flashbacks) it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the online-exclusives get a bit more expensive in 2021.

My last two sets which came with the 2020 membership recently arrived. The factory set contains (700) cards. Each card in the set has the Montgomery Club logo printed on them.

Members of the club were allowed to vote on the design, and players included in Set #5. Design #3 ended up being the winner. In case you are wondering, here is what the other designs looked like:

Set #5 consists of (20) cards, plus an autograph. Here is what I got:
