Members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club will get early access to 2021 Topps Chrome Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire Edition tomorrow 9/20.

Artwork will be from the Original Series 3 & 4. 2020 boxes originally sold for $50. They now sell for $1k on the secondary market. I predict the 2021 product will be priced much higher out of the gate. Topps probably printed more as well.

2020 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set/Art/Garbage Pail Kids/Pop-Culture fans

Garbage Pail Kids have quite the cult following. Fans of these cute, violent, vulgar, destructive, and flat out disgusting characters were very happy to hear that another Chrome set would be hitting the market.

The artwork used in 2020 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Chrome comes from the Series 3 set which was originally released in 1986. (9) new pieces of art were created too. Precious Pete #AN4a and/or Gollum Gary #AN4b is one of the new pieces of artwork that I really enjoy. It shows him drooling over a box of Garbage Pail Kids Chrome. I love to see card products depicted on the actual cards themselves.

A complete base set consists of (100) cards – (50) “A” names and (50) “B” names. (50) select Garbage Pail Kids characters have C-Name Variations. C-Name Variations are difficult to pull, falling 1:101 packs. Parallels only apply to “A” and “B” names. The C-Name Variations do not have parallels. Parallels of “A” and “B” Garbage Pail Kids include – Refractor, Atomic (Blaster), Green #’ed/299, Green Wave #’ed/299, Purple #’ed/250, Purple Wave #’ed/250, Prism #’ed/199, X-Fractor #’ed/150, Black #’ed/99 (Hobby), Orange #’ed/75, Gold #’ed/50 (Hobby), Red #’ed/5, SuperFractor #’ed 1/1, and Printing Plates #’ed 1/1.

Outside of the parallels and C-Name Variations there are Artist Autographs that you can pull. These are limited to (25) copies. Artists include Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Smokin’ Joe, Tom Bunk, and Joe Simko.

Given that the C-Name Variations and Artist Autographs are difficult finds, when it comes down to it the refractors are going to be your main hits.

Garbage Pail Kids are pop-culture at it’s finest. They’re even better when they’re parodying something else.

Famed author R.L. Stine is currently writing a book series based on the Garbage Pail Kids. Book #1 Welcome to Smellville is out now. Book #2 Thrills And Chills will be coming out next. I reached out to R.L. Stine earlier this year to see if we’ll ever get a Garbage Pail Kids/Goosebumps crossover.
