Mauer, Longoria, & Stargell Highlight Monty Sheldon’s ’12 Gypsy Queen Art Patches

One of the best things that came out of Gypsy Queen last year were the hand-drawn colorful patch relics created by sports artist Monty Sheldon.  Collectors can look for more of his artwork in the 2012 version of Gypsy Queen.  Here are a few closeups of what you can look forward to pulling.

2011 Plates & Patches Football Box Break & Review

Design: 

Once again the design is much like last year’s Plates & Patches.  On the plus side, Panini did do better with the autographed rookie patch cards.  These on-card autographs look good, but I think the area for the player to sign should have been much larger.  In most cases, these cards are the main “hits” of the box and having them encased in a thick holder like they were last year would have been a good idea.

Price: 

Boxes are currently selling for $150.00.

Overall: 

Overall, I give 2011 Plates & Patches 3 footballs out of 5 (1=poor & 5=perfect).  Like I said before, the design is almost the same as last year’s set.  The rookie autographed patches look slightly better though.
