Upper Deck’s 2017 National Sports Collectors Convention Plans

Upper Deck continues to make great products.  I just don’t open them very often mainly because they’re hockey and entertainment driven.  During the National in Atlantic City, NJ last year I opened a box of Goodwin Champions at their booth and pulled a Kevin Smith autograph #’ed/25 from a promo pack.  That was the first time I had pulled anything major while taking part in their wrapper redemption program.

VIPs visiting the ’17 NSCC will receive a 5-card Prominent Cuts set from Upper Deck.  The set includes: Michael Jordan, Connor McDavid, LeBron James, Ben Simmons, and Patrick Kane.

Upper Deck announced all of their plans for the National over on their blog.  They’ve got tons going on.

Upper Deck Opens Up About Their 2016 National Plans

UPDATE – Here is a list of the qualifying products for Upper Deck’s Wrapper Redemption Program.

In an interview with John Broggi of the National Sports Collectors Convention, Upper Deck unveiled some of their plans for the industry’s biggest annual event.

VIPs will receive a 5-card set that features LeBron James, Martin Brodeur, Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan.  Collectors taking part in Upper Deck’s wrapper redemption program will find (10) Prominent Cuts multi-sport base cards.  Autographs and cut signatures will randomly be thrown in.  Wrapper redemption packs and case breakers exclusive cards will also contain ten top NHL rookies.  Autographed versions of those can be found as well.

Without going into too much detail, Upper Deck did mention that they will have a special trading card tribute for Mike Berkus.  Berkus co-founded the National and passed away last year.  I’d like to see their tribute card designed to look like something you’d pull from 2016 Goodwin Champions.  Upper Deck traditionally doesn’t design their National promos around already existing products.  Topps does, and perhaps that’s why Upper Deck chooses not to.  Yes.  Prominent Cuts was a product they released in 2009, but it wasn’t seen again.  Goodwin Champions on the other hand is a product that Upper Deck continues to make.  It has a good following, and feels like their version of Allen & Ginter.  To those collectors who have never attended the National, the name Mike Berkus may not be that easily recognized.  At least not at first.  Issuing a card(s) of him in the 2016 Goodwin Champions design would help drive demand for it.  Set collectors want everything.

The 37th National Sports Collectors Convention takes place in Atlantic City, NJ Aug. 3-7.  I plan to be there with handfuls of my Sports Card Info pins to give out.  Find me!

Leaf Announces 2015 National Wrapper Redemption Plans

Leaf always has a huge presence during the National.  I’m sure this year won’t be any different.  Their booth usually takes up the most space showcasing prizes and upcoming products.

Leaf has announced it’s wrapper redemption plans for the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention.  Collectors opening up boxes of 2015 Leaf Legends of Sport, 2015 Leaf Clear Football, 2015 Leaf Pop Century, 2014-15 Leaf In The Game Used, and 2015 Leaf Masterworks: Sports Edition, will receive a 7-card pack containing exclusive cards in the classic 1990 Leaf Baseball design.  One in every seven of these packs will have an autograph.  You can get two packs if you share on video what you like about Leaf while opening your box.

Collectors opening a case of any of those products will receive a pack with an autograph inside numbered to 10 or less.  All products must be opened at the Leaf booth in front of a representative to obtain your promos.

Historic Autographs Details Promo Plans For The National

Historic Autographs has detailed their plans for the 2014 National.  Check out everything they have going on!!!

Every person that opens a box of ANY Historic Autographs product (PURCHASED AT THE NATIONAL & OPENED AT THE HA BOOTH ONLY) will be given a BECKETT COVERS card that features Mickey Mantle from the 1986 Beckett cover as well as a complete 22-card HA Originals, 1909-12 art card set & a 42-card HA Originals, 1933 art card set.  So every Historic Autographs box bought at the National gets (3) free items.

National ONLY Memorabilia Edition

This product is quite simple, each tin will have (1) redemption card that MUST be redeemed at the HA booth at the National – no exceptions – but the beauty of the product is that the customer will get a fantastic piece of SIGNED memorabilia for the lowest price possible.  The product will include mostly autographed jerseys along with some very nice HOF signed baseball bats, a few full-sized helmets and a handful of Stan Musial signed baseballs.  Highlighted by a wonderful LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers UDA-Authenticated jersey with ALL the other items being PSA/DNA authenticated.  The selection of jerseys is better than their very popular Jersey Edition from earlier this year – so this product is a great value price to those who like memorabilia.  All items can be seen at Booth #349.

Historic Autographs will pay a $2500.00 cash reward to any collector that completes a 2014 HA Originals, 1941 72-card set and places it on the PSA/DNA Set Registry by noon Sunday August 3, 2014.  There are (7) possible sets so there could be multiple winners.  The collector gets to keep his set and the cash.  For those who put together the 2014 HA Originals, 1941 MINI 24-card set (and places it on the PSA/DNA Registry by noon Sunday August 3, 2014), Historic Autographs will give each of those winners a free PSA-Authenticated signed baseball (HOFs only).

Upper Deck’s 2014 National Plans: Promos, Exquisite Golf, & FREE Cake

Upper Deck may have been quiet when it came to their plans for the 2014 National Sports Collectors Convention, but the silence is gone.  Upper Deck has fully unveiled what they have in store for collectors… and its a lot!

For a full run down on things, check out Upper Deck’s Blog.  But here are some of the things that stick out to me.  I’m going to do something I rarely do, and that’s copy and paste info from one blog to another 🙂  Upper Deck really says it best anyway.  One of these years I’d like to see Upper Deck make some National exclusive Precious Metal Gems parallels.  Its about time collectors see a high-end golf product like Exquisite.  I’m really looking forward to seeing what those cards look like.

The Exquisite Case Break – On Friday at 2:00 p.m. fans in attendance will want to make their way to the Amazon.com Sports Collectibles Center Stage for an extremely special event.  Fans who are not at the show can watch through Upper Deck’s BreakersTV Channel.  Upper Deck will bring up two of the company’s Authorized Group Breakers to help out with this special event in Steel City Collectibles along with Dave & Adam’s Card World, but spots in the break will be absolutely FREE and awarded during a special raffle at the company’s booth on Thursday night at 5:25 p.m.  What will make this such an “exquisite” event is that Upper Deck will be breaking the company’s most premium products with 2013 Exquisite Collection Football and 2014 Exquisite Collection Golf.

Cardboard Connection Radio’s Plans For The 2014 National

Cardboard Connection Radio sent out the following press release which details their plans for the 2014 NSCC.  Check it out!!!

The 2014 National Sports Collectors Convention is shaping up to be one of the best in its storied history.  Cardboard Connection Radio, the longest-running, weekly radio show dedicated to the hobby, will broadcast live throughout the 5-day event at Cleveland’s International Exposition (I-X) Center.  Friends of the show and special guests will talk trading cards with hosts Doug Cataldo, Rob Bertrand, Russ Cohen and David Wright as events unfold.

VIP and Super VIP ticket holders will also receive an added bonus.  In cooperation with SA-GE Collectibles, collectors can chase a 10-card set of football cards. Each VIP or Super VIP bag will include one of the nine-card set.  The 10^th card, a checklist, may be picked up at the Cardboard Connection Radio booth (M-1) by showing your SA-GE/Cardboard Connection Radio trading card that is found in the VIP and Super VIP bags — while supplies last.  The set contains 7 rookies and 2 second-year players.

As always, collectors will find a variety of cards and other goodies including t-shirts, and supplies from our friends at UltraPro at the Cardboard Connection booth beginning on Wednesday, July 30.  They will be available while supplies last.

On Saturday, August 2^nd members of the Baseball Heritage Museum in Cleveland will appear at the Cardboard Connection Radio booth.  The Baseball Heritage Museum showcases the contributions that the Negro, Hispanic and women’s leagues made to the game of baseball.  The museum’s executive director is Vern Fuller, former second baseman for the Cleveland Indians.  Vern will sign autographs that afternoon (exact time TBD).  To help the museum, which is a non-profit, a donation of $5 for Vern’s signature is required with all proceeds going to the museum.

On Sunday, August 3^rd our guest will be artist extraordinaire Sean Kane.  Sean is the founder of Painted Glove Collectibles (http://www.seankanebaseballart.com).  Sean will demonstrate his artistic talents and show how he produces one of his unique, one-of-a-kind collectibles.  Sean has graciously donated a glove with a Cleveland theme to put in the hands of a lucky collector.  Stop by the booth to find out how you can participate.

Upper Deck Releases Their Promo Plans For The 34th National

Earlier this week Upper Deck gave us a peak at their 6-card set that VIPs attending the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention would receive.  Now we get into the real meat and potatoes – Upper Deck’s wrapper redemption programs.

Although I don’t see any special Precious Metal Gems parallels or Animal Kingdom patch cards being made, Upper Deck seems to have a whole bunch of activities planned.

Wrapper Redemption Program – Collectors just need to purchase five (5) packs of 2013 SPx Football, 2013 Upper Deck Football (Hobby), 2012-13 SP Authentic Basketball, 2012-13 NHL SP Authentic or 2013 Goodwin Champions OR two (2) packs of 2012 Fleer Retro Football, 2012-13 NHL Fleer Retro or 2012-13 Fleer Retro Basketball to receive one (1) 2013 Upper Deck National Sports Collectors Convention Pack.  These five (5) card packs must be purchased from a Certified Diamond Dealer who will provide collectors with an Upper Deck issued voucher for the redemption program.  The program will begin at different times each day starting on Thursday and run as long as supplies last.  Collectors can take advantage of the promotion up to four times per person, per day.

Case Breaker Promotion – Based on the success of the case breaker promotion at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention, Upper Deck will bring the program back for 2013 with 25 high-end items available to fans looking to open cases of the company’s Fleer Retro brands.  Collectors can open a sealed six (6) box case of 2012-13 Fleer Retro Basketball, 2012-13 Fleer Retro NHL or 2013 Fleer Retro Football without waiting in any lines at any time throughout the show to receive the following:

• (20) 2013 Upper Deck National Sports Collectors Convention Packs (4 packs from each day)
• (1) Case Breaker Raffle Ticket good for a random memorabilia item, trading card or one of five (5) Michael Jordan autograph cards produced exclusively for the National Sports Collectors Convention.  The item selected will be immediately available to the participant.

Expired Redemption Raffle – It was just last year Upper Deck rolled out the first-ever expired redemption raffle at the National Sports Collectors Convention and it was a tremendous success so it will be back in 2013. Collectors and store owners may bring up to five (5) unscratched, expired Upper Deck autograph redemption cards to the Upper Deck Corporate Booth by Saturday, August 3 before 10:30 a.m. to take part in the program.  Those who wish to participate DO NOT need to attend the trade show.  Collectors and shop owners can send in up to five (5) unscratched, expired Upper Deck autograph redemption cards to the address below to participate as well.

Collectors who send in their cards need to legibly write their name, address, phone number and email address to the front of the expired Upper Deck redemption card (in the white area) in black or blue ink.  Cards not received in time for this event will be carried over to the next Expired Redemption Raffle.  Upper Deck will have 100 PRIZES available in this raffle consisting mostly of limited autograph cards, memorabilia cards, unopened boxes and signed promotional items from Upper Deck Authenticated.

What cards are eligible for The Upper Deck Expired Redemption Raffle Program?

• Expired redemption cards must have been manufactured by Upper Deck (legal copy on the back of the redemption card will indicate if it was produced by Upper Deck or not).  Redemption cards from other manufacturers will NOT BE HONORED.
• Expired redemption cards must be modern-era redemptions with a scratch off code that has not been scratched.  Older redemption cards without a scratch off code are not eligible for this promotion.
• Expired redemption cards must be for an autograph trading card or signed memorabilia item.  Redemption cards for unsigned draft picks, rookie cards, regular cards or memorabilia cannot be honored.  Additionally, expired sweepstakes offers are not valid for this promotion either.

ITG’s 2012 NSCC Box Break Redemption Plans

Hockey collectors can look for three different box break redemption programs from In The Game during the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore.

The three products that qualify for these programs include UM-11 National SuperBox, Broad Street Boys, and 11-12 Between the Pipes.

After opening a box of Broad Street Boys at the In The Game booth, you will receive a 1/1 stamped Game-Used Memorabilia card from the series.

After opening a box of 2011-12 Between The Pipes, you will receive a special  die cut Game-Used Memorabilia card made for the National.  Each card will have (9) silver versions and (1) gold version.

ITG’s UM-11 National SuperBox was created in response to the success they had with the UM-11 Spring Expo SuperBox in Toronto.  Each UM-11 National SuperBox contains (5) UM-11 packs and a special 1/1 autographed dual memorabilia card.

Official Redemption Program Rules:

All boxes and packs must be opened at the same time and all wrappers must be submitted to In The Game personnel.

Boxes MUST have shrink-wrap with the In The Game logo on it to qualify.

The redemption card offer extends through all days of the show or while supplies last and daily limits may be imposed.  In The Game reserves the right to limit the quantity of redemption cards per customer.

As in previous Redemption Programs, the following rules are in effect:

– No redemptions will take place until the show hours begin.
– Redemptions are limited to the number of cards available.
– In The Game, Inc. reserves the right to limit the number of redemptions of any individual.
– All packs must be opened at the In The Game booth.
– All redemptions are done on a random basis.
– Any part of published redemption programs may be subject to change prior to the show.

Upper Deck’s 2011 National Plans

Upper Deck is doing all sorts of stuff for collectors that attend this year’s National Sports Collectors Convention.  VIPs will receive a 6-card set on Wed. 8/3/11 during the “Sneak Peak”.  This VIP set includes: Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, LeBron James, Bobby Orr and Landon Donovan.

Throughout the show, collectors can open 5 packs of specified Upper Deck products at the Upper Deck booth and they will receive an exclusive 5-card pack.  Each day of the show these 5-card packs will contain different athletes.  These cards range from Michael Jordan to Bubba Watson.  You can even look for randomly inserted autographs.  Take a look at Upper Deck’s Blog for more stuff they are doing at the National this year.

Leaf To Include 5 Cards In The 2011 National VIP Package
