X-Mas Box Break: 2010 Topps Prime Football

These cards have a really nice design.  I love base cards that are made with thick stock.  Some of my other Christmas presents included a new Phillies shirt, Iron Man 2, candy, money, and a 2011 Phillies calendar.

What did you get for Christmas?

2010 Topps Prime Football Rip Party Results

Yesterday evening my local card shop, Sports Zone Memorabilia, held a rip party for 2010 Topps Prime Football.  I had a really great time a got some good stuff.  My three teams this time were the Raiders, Eagles, and Dolphins.  I scored a few hits, including a Jared Odrick autograph #’ed/25 and a Tebow/Cooper/Hernandez Triple Jersey #’ed/199.  I also won a free box of 2009 Bowman Chrome Baseball for being the first person to pull a Brett Favre card.

eBay Mailday!

Today in the mail I received my Richie Ashburn 2008 Playoff Prime Cuts jersey #’ed/25.  I have been wanting an Ashburn relic for awhile, but they don’t always show up for sale.  This one only cost $14.00 and came with FREE shipping.  Thats not too bad considering a box of Prime Cuts sells for over $200.00.  I wonder what else this person got from their box in addition to my Ashburn?  Lets hope they pulled some other stuff worth more than $14.00 🙂  This is one of the best things about Prime Cuts.  A lot of the low numbered relics aren’t worth a whole lot and can easily be picked up.  Some other Phillies I would like to see relics of include John Vukovich and Harry Kalas.  I could see Topps including an “authentic worn tie” card of HK in Allen & Ginter.  I’m not a big fan of manufactured patches, but I think it would be cool to see a Harry Kalas commemorative card containg a black patch like the Phillies are wearing this season.

P.S. – I like how Donruss tried to block out the Phillies logo on Ashburn’s hat.

Flashback Product of the Week: 2004 Playoff Prime Signatures Football

Photobucket

2004 Playoff Prime Signatures football is your standard one autograph per pack product.  Each sealed hobby tin contains one pack, with 4 cards per pack.  Some key rookies from this product would include Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, and Larry Fitzgerald.  The base set is made of 100 cards, each serial numbered to 999.  Since I am a Dolphins fan, this product contains a really great looking Don Shula autograph limited to only 25 copies.  A few years ago I was lucky to find one to add to my collection.

2008 Playoff Prime Cuts IV Pictures

Playoff Prime Cuts hasn’t been around for a few years, but it looks like Donruss/Playoff is making up for that lost time.  When I opened a box of this stuff three years ago, I pulled a Garrett Anderson Auto Jersey #’ed/16.  Looks like the newest version has some better stuff.
