2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball Hobby Box Break & Review

Collector Type: Set

Picking up where Series 1 left off, 2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball consists of (330) cards (331-660). Parallels include Royal Blue (Walmart), Rainbow Foil (1:10), Gold Foil (1:2 Jumbo), Gold #’ed/2021, Green Foil #’ed/499, Advanced Stat #’ed/300, Orange Foil #’ed/299, Red Foil #’ed/199, Vintage Stock #’ed/99, Independence Day #’ed/76, Black #’ed/70 (Hobby/Jumbo), Platinum Anniversary #’ed/70, Mother’s Day Pink #’ed/50, Father’s Day Blue #’ed/50, Memorial Day Camo #’ed/25, 70th Anniversary #’ed 1/1, and Printing Plates #’ed 1/1. (100) select cards have Clear parallels #’ed/10.

It wouldn’t be a flagship set without photo variations. And Series 2 has plenty of them. Personally, the easiest way for me to identify them is by checking the small CMP code on the back. I’ve also recognized that many photo variations come out of the pack face down. So if you open a pack and the card is flipped over you might want to give it a closer look.

  • Base – #423
  • SP Short Print Variations – #441
  • SSP Super Variations – #442
  • SSSP Ultra Variations – #443

Its important to note that the CMP code on the Advanced Stat parallels end in #444. But these are serial numbered to (300) copies, so checking the CMP code isn’t really necessary.

Autographs include 70 Years of Baseball Autographs, 70 Years of Baseball Dual Autographs, 70 Years of Topps Baseball Autographs, 1986 Topps Baseball Autographs, 1986 Topps All-Star Baseball Autographs, DH Debuts Autographs, Juan Soto Highlights Autographs, Significant Statistics Autographs, Topps Platinum Players Die-Cuts Autographs, Zero to Sixty Autographs, and Cut Signatures.

Autograph/Relics include 2021 Rookie Card Patches Manufactured Relics Autographs, Commemorative World Series Rings Relic Autographs, Major League Material Autograph Relics, Significant Statistics Autograph Relics, Topps 70th Anniversary Logo Manufactured Patch Autographs, and Topps Reverence Autograph Patch.

Relics include 1986 Topps Baseball Relics, 1986 Topps All-Stars Baseball Relics, In the Name Relics, Major League Material Relics, and Significant Statistics Relics.

Manufactured Relics include 2021 Rookie Card Patches, Commemorative World Series Rings Relics, and Topps 70th Anniversary Logo Patch.

Inserts include 70 Years of Topps Baseball, Chrome 70 Years of Topps Baseball, 1965 Topps Redux, Chrome 1965 Topps Redux, 1986 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary, 1986 Topps All-Star Baseball 35th Anniversary, DH Debuts, Home Run Challenge, Juan Soto Highlights, Significant Statistics, Topps Platinum Players Die-Cuts, Zero to Sixty, and Sketch Cards.

Between the SP Variation, relic, and autograph, I’d say this box was very well balanced. That box topper autograph was by far the biggest surprise.
