“Pin-Up” of the Week: Watkins Glen International Pin

I recently took a trip to Watkins Glen, New York.  The main reason for going was for the wineries, but the Watkins Glen International racetrack was right there.  So I didn’t think it would hurt to stop.  This time of the year they allow visitors into the grandstands for free.  I didn’t run into Jeff Gordon or Danica Patrick, but did get to see some cars run.  It looked like they were running small sports cars that day.

I’m sure the racetrack has a gift shop, but I couldn’t get into that.  Luckily there was a Watkins Glen International store right next to the hotel I was staying in.  That place had everything, including pins.  I ended up buying five new pins for my collection.  One of them is pictured above and is in the shape of the track.

Established in 1948, Watkins Glen International is one of the biggest racetracks in the country.  It started out racing Formula 1, but now is New York’s only home to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
