Gloves & Sweat Soaked Towels Highlight Panini’s NSCC Relic Promos

Have you gotten in line yet?  You better or your not going to get any of these prized Panini promo packs.  I’m already camped out inside the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center waiting for Panini to show up.  I’ve got my boxes, food, water, and smartphone.  I think I can wait it out until Wednesday night.  I guess in the mean time we’ll just have to settle for these new images Panini released today teasing us of what is to come next week during the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention.  Enjoy!

Looks like Panini is bringing back their employee cards.  Now that’s a business card.

Panini Unveils Complete 2012 NSCC Wrapper Redemption Details

This afternoon, Panini unveiled all the details you’ll need to know in order to take part in their 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention wrapper redemption program.

Click here for a complete list of qualifying products.

Click here for a complete checklist of the cards you can look for within these special silver packs made just for the show.

In a few days we’ll get to see some of the ’12 NSCC relic and autographed cards Panini plans to include.  Until then, here is a preview of the relic cards without their clothes on 🙂  This is an actual photo from inside the Panini printing facility.

Panini Teases Us With Their ’12 NSCC Promo Plans

One of my favorite things to report on each year are the promos being given out during the National Sports Collectors Convention.  I love dishing out the details on what they look like and how you can get your hands on them.  The only company I haven’t talked much about is Panini.  Panini has been slowly teasing the public on their promo plans this year.  Its only a matter of days before all of their plans are unveiled, but here is what we know so far.

Panini will be holding an exclusive VIP event for high-rolling collectors.  Collectors that spend at least $6,500.00 at D & A Card World, Blowout Cards, Atlanta Sports Cards, Pittsburgh Wholesale, and/or Marty’s Sports Cards will be invited to this rare event that takes place the night of 8/4.  This event will work much like the Industry Summit distributors attend each year, except this time its for collectors.  On arrival, you will find elusive Black Boxes filled with rare gems, Hall of Famers signing autographs, case battles with ’11-’12 Elite Hockey and ’11-’12 Limited Basketball, plus more.

The following products will earn you “Panini Bucks” towards your invitation:

  • 2011 Limited
  • 2011 Prime Cuts
  • 2011 Contenders

  • 2011-12 Gold Standard
  • 2011-12 Limited
  • 2011-12 Past & Present

  • 2012 Elite
  • 2012 Prestige
  • 2011 Totally Certified
  • 2011 Playbook
  • 2011 Prime Signatures

  • 2011-12 Elite
  • 2011-12 Contenders
  • 2011-12 Rookie Anthology

Only 50 collectors will be able to attend this event.  It sounds really cool, but I don’t see 50 people spending $6,500.00.  That’s a lot of cash.  I’d love to get my hands on a ticket to this, but I’m not spending that kind of money.  If any of those dealers are reading this, I’d be more than happy to take one or two of those invitations off your hands 🙂

Panini will also have their regular box break redemption program going on at their booth and it won’t require you to spend $6,500.00.  They haven’t gone too much into detail about it, but it will probably work like in previous years.  Open a 2011 or 2012 product at the Panini booth, and receive a promo pack.

Here are a few previews of the promos:

Panini calls this their “Cracked Ice” design.  It was first featured in the Father’s Day promotion.

Randomly inserted within the ’12 NSCC Panini promo packs will be redemptions for the actual printing plates used to print box covers.

Onyx Authenticated Announces ’12 NSCC Wrapper Redemption Program

This afternoon Onyx Authenticated announced what their wrapper redemption program will involve for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention.

Collectors who open a case of Platinum Prospects at the Onyx booth will receive the following cards:

  • 8/2 – Rymer Liriano autograph and Jameson Taillon game-used jersey card
  • 8/3 – Jameson Taillon autograph and Gary Sanchez game-used card
  • 8/4 – Gary Sanchez autograph and Gerrit Cole game-used jersey card

Onyx Authenticated will also be giving away a Babe Ruth signed baseball to those who found Ruth Lottery redemptions in some of their memorabilia products.  Only one lucky collector will walk away with the Ruth signed baseball.

Press Pass Unveils 2012 National Promo Plans

Press Pass will not have a booth setup during the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore.  The week of The National, they will be moving into a new office.  Don’t worry, just because they can’t be there doesn’t mean collectors will miss out on the promos.  Press Pass has teamed up with select dealers in order to help execute their pack promotion and wrapper redemption program.  The list of select dealers will be announced prior to The National opening.

According to Press Pass, you will receive one promo pack for each box of 2012 NASCAR product purchased.  Eligible products include Press Pass, Total Memorabilia, Ignite, Redline, and Showcase.  Within each promo pack will be a National Exclusive Showcase parallel numbered to 5 or 1.  They will also randomly throw in relics and autographs.  For those die-hard NASCAR fans, this sounds pretty good.  Earlier this year, I stated that Press Pass would be giving away signed banners at their booth.  Since it doesn’t look like they will have a booth, I think the banners will be used for their Power Packs instant win program.

Get Your Exclusive Heritage Rookies From Topps At The National

Topps will distribute 5 rookie cards this year at the National Sports Collectors Convention.  These cards were not included in 2011 Topps Heritage.  These cards will be limited to 299 copies each.  One player will be given out each day.  Collectors can obtain these cards by opening 5 packs of any 2011 Topps and/or Bowman brand at the Topps booth.  Only 1 card per collector each day.  Here  is the schedule:

  • 8/3/11 – Dustin Ackley
  • 8/4/11 – Dee Gordon
  • 8/5/11 – Mike Moustakas
  • 8/6/11 – Michael Pineda
  • 8/7/11 – Zach Britton

Remember the Strasburg promotion Topps did last year?  That was nuts.  We lost a lot of good collectors trying to get into that line 🙂
