Flashback Product of the Week: 1997 Pinnacle Baseball

In 1997, Pinnacle did something a little different that had never been done before.  They decided to randomly insert printing plates into their products.  Its a concept that was accepted by collectors and continues to this day.  I really like how their plates are signed by Pinnacle Chairman/CEO Jerry Meyer, and give the date the plate was used.  Boxes can be picked-up for around $15.00.

Believe it or not, but people have found ways to make counterfeit printing plates.  I would avoid purchasing any plates that didn’t come from a pack, unless you have some proper documentation from the manufacturer.  When looking at a plate, try and compare it to the card it was used to make.  Everything should be equal in size and shape.
