Flashback Product of the Week: 1890 N80 Duke’s Holidays

Its that time of the year again.  Time to spend time with your family, stuff your face, and buy a ton of crap to put under the tree 🙂  Thats why I think the 1890 N80 Duke’s Holidays set would be appropriate for this week.  Tobacco cards from the 19th century contain some of the best artwork in the hobby.  Its also fairly common to find sets that consist of people, places, and things that have nothing to do with sports.  If it wasn’t for Duke’s, there probably wouldn’t be a trading card hobby.  They were the first company to introduce card inserts to reinforce their cigarette packages.

The 1890 N80 Duke’s Holidays set contains 50 cards.  Each card represents a holiday from around the world.  I think they’re really interesting to look at.  Examples that are in great condition can go for top dollar, but ones that look like the card below can be found for under $30.00.
