2021 Topps Chrome Tennis Sapphire Edition Box Break

Members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club need to understand that Fanatics’ job is NOT to make you money.

When the pandemic hit cards grew in popularity. Club members were very lucky that they had access to a lot of exclusive products many new people to the hobby (who weren’t club members) couldn’t get their hands on directly from Topps.

On top of all of that Topps didn’t know how to properly price some of these products given the high-demand market conditions at the time.

The market conditions of the pandemic era are over for now. Card prices are down. Topps has also been pricing their products better (for themselves) since Fanatics bought them.

Flipping boxes for a profit immediately after buying them from Topps is over. It certainly is possible for the price of a product to rise over time if a rookie develops, but that isn’t guaranteed to happen.

It was a perfect storm that gave flippers and collectors some awesome deals. That fluke of a storm has come to an end.

I plan to purchase at least (1) box of every product members of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club are offered to pre-order this year.

Up first was 2021 Topps Chrome Tennis Sapphire Edition.

2021 Topps Chrome Tennis Sapphire Edition and it’s regular Chrome counterpart have been in the works for years.

Upon it’s release collectors weren’t impressed with the checklist. I guess they were hoping to see names like Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.

The e-mail Topps sent to club members mentioned that the Sapphire Edition would have an Extended Base Set, and we could look for autographs of Emma Raducanu, Coco Gauff, Billie Jean King, Gigi Fernandez, and Chris Evert.

As of this writing the only Extended Base Set card and autograph to be found in the Sapphire Edition is of Emma Raducanu. Topps made it sound like there would be more to look for.

Here is what I pulled:
